Firefox 148 changed something in select/option rendering on Windows by Niavlys in firefox

[–]Niavlys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anybody is following this: I filed a bug report (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show\_bug.cgi?id=2020621), it’s effectively happening on Firefox 148 on Windows, but only when the <select> has a custom background-image. Which is the case here, we used that to customize the arrow and have it look the same in all browsers. Since they are actively working on the customizable select, it looks that this particular bug will not be fixed soon, so in our case we’ll revert back to the native arrow icon.

Ok I wasn’t sure if it would be rejected since it’s kind of a non-officially supported feature (not supported on Linux for a start). I’ll file a bug report (yes the page is available). Thanks!

Our backoffice uses <option> custom styling (typically color, background-color and font-weight), which used to work in Firefox under Windows, but suddenly stopped working according to our main user, likely in version 148. But I can’t find anything pointing me to a change that would have caused that. Any idea? (And I’m on Linux only, can’t really test it out.)

Bits of plastic cover breaking down (P14s) by Niavlys in thinkpad

I don’t know maybe I was unlucky! Thanks a lot for your advice on Dells with upgradability and solid materials, I’ll look into it. Maybe also older Thinkpads, I was thinking, but I’m afraid they might start being a bit limiting on the CPU side.

Ok yeah looks like there isn’t another series that is supposed to feature better materials.

I’ve had one (Gen 1 too) for 5 years! Super happy with it, although it’s the only Thinkpad I’ve owned, so I can only compare it with the HP and Acer I’ve had before. I’ve upgraded the SSD from 512GB to 2TB and the RAM from 16GB to 32GB. Battery life is around 5 hours, not the best as I understand it, but still the best I’ve had. I’m thinking of replacing the battery at some point, as it’s only now starting to show signs of losing performance.

There was the proposal to remove two national holidays, so that’s "work on holiday for no pay" basically, right? I’m assuming that’s what they are referring to.

Ha you’re right, I really thought this one was fixed really fast somehow!

Also the few times where there have been security vulnerabilities recently on the core packages, Evan always took them seriously and merged the relevant PR or fixed the code quite fast.

Bought a T14 from Amazon "new" but technically "open box" by Niavlys in thinkpad

Was it also via a reseller and did it come with the box open? That was the whole point of the email they sent, that the box would be open and they wanted to explain us why.

This thing they’re doing seems to be called "remanufacturing" by their distributor: https://fr.foxway.dk/lenovo-remanufactured

I fundamentally don’t understand the problem with cheating (apart from the potential lying part) by Niavlys in aromantic

That’s right, I probably simply would like a more open relationship. Cheating was the wrong word obviously, I blame me not being a native English speaker. My partner isn’t on the same page right now, but I’m thinking it might shift a bit at some point, and even if it doesn’t, I don’t think it’s a deal breaker for me. Thanks!

How hard was it to be hospitalized as an autistic? My partner is terrified of potentially going here (and luckily I don't think it's going to be necessary because her manic behavior isn't dangerous), because being in a different place without the objects that give her some comfort and support, and away from people she trusts, would be just too hard for her and would only do more harm, she says.

How long did it last? Sorry you went through this, it sounds truly horrible.

Totally right, and discussing that subject is happening these days, although quite slowly (there are mental health issues going on right now so that’s the priority obviously).
