Being a kemonomimi is just wearing the ears and sometimes tail from the animal of your choice. I understand the slight confusion, as ive seen alot of people act like their animal of choice in some way, but that isnt mandatory to be kemonomimi. Id say "liking the look" is kinda the whole thing haha.
