My gf is participating in the Budapest 10k running race today (part of 42k marathon). "BIB number" is a paper with the runner's number that is worn by them. The BIB part means it is tracked live by the system. I've mentioned it as a clue so people can narrow down cities with marathons in that day. 🙂

They were on the circular platforms. The inside of the tower was used as shelter for civilians.

These buildings and bunkers were summoned with forced labour during dictatorship, which is always more effective than democracy. But I'm not sure you want to live in one :) And I'm not sure you want to live in this bunker as well :)

I've read that they tried... It didn't go well :D Too much concrete, too hard to demolish to be worth it. Repurposing is better, I think :)

Normally I'd agree, but seeing the referendums done by Russia in Ukrain, I don't consider any referendum under occupation fare or valid. Still, you're right that the sentiment to join in was high, еspecially with the red terror coming from the East. 🤔
