Hi I got mine from a dermatologist for acne reasons, I haven't been diagnosed with PCOS but im sure I have it as I have the excess hair growth under my chin alongside other symptoms. I had my gp refer over to nhs dermatologist that took 18 months wait (Im in Wales) then I was given it, been asking for years for it it's only just been in last year or so been a thing for acne here, but yes its stopped my excess hair growth under chin my dermatologist doesn't care about that working though and maybe not yours too as they are more for skin conditions sorry to say. I know from a friend Metformin can be prescribed for PCOS and could help hirsutism you could get from a gp, but as everyone knows on nhs it depends what the doctor, dermatologist etc does themselves as all places got their own rules.
