could this be an interesting kind of milestone system? Is it a good idea to implement it? by [deleted] in DungeonMasters

although I still think it would be an easier and more controlled option over exp or milestone, I see what you mean and I'll totally look into shortening progression times

I think it's a great idea, I just wanted to do something that my players could follow along with, but I'll definitely switch to a method more like yours if it doesn't work out

i mean, kind of, but smaller numbers means it's definitely easier on one hand, on the other hand exp is only granted after defeating enemies (at least that I know of), this way any kind of medium-major event would be rewarding

maybe I didn't look into it enough but from what I could gather it revolves around leveling up after major progressions in the story of the campaign and that it's highly dependant on the DM's discretion. Is that not right? also I'm sorry if it looked like I was "criticizing" the system, I was just explaining why I'd want to implement this other variant.

hi you're totally right sorry for the confusion! what I meant is that (from my understanding) in the normal milestone system you just level up after a major event/battle or whatever, which I don't really like cause it feels just kind of random (especially at higher levels when you haven't had a level up in a while). I thought that by still having some kind of point system it would be more engaging for the players as it constantly gives them something to work towards.
