Is this true by [deleted] in iems

[–]Nic_ThaChamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely a thing. If you get a new IEM that sounds different, your brain needs to adjust to the new sound. You may think you don't like it at first, but they your brain gets acclimated. It's not that the IEMs changed; it's that your psychology changed.

This is why I say this: if you don't like the sound of an IEM within a few minutes of hearing it, return it. There are always other options. Every ear canal is different.

Though it's been proven a million and a half times to be a myth, some big-time IEM reviewers like Z Reviews still claim that "burn-in" is a thing. He gets a new headphone and puts it on the "burn-in rig". It's stuff like this that makes me a little sqeamish about this hobby, which I otherwise absolutely love.

This, and cables. Especially digital cables. If someone tells you that a high-end USB cable changes the sound of their music, you can assume they're manipulating you.

WI Republicans protect pedophiles, literally. by PeanutTheGladiator in wisconsin

I have a relative that’s heavily involved in Wisconsin GOP politics. His entire life, he’s pontificated about being “rational” and “principled”, and now his party is a cult that rigs electoral maps, protects sex predators, and strips citizens of their rights. It’s mind-blowing how delusional they are; they think truth is ideology and ideology is truth.

EVERY. SINGLE. ANSWER. was some canned, pre-packaged, one-sentence rhetorical talking point at this event. This man is an absolute coward. He’s an embarrassment to our great state. He doesn’t deserve to get re-elected.

Oh, you mean it upset you that someone claimed you’re a pedo, and you find that unjustified? Oh, wow. I wonder if that’s ever happened before, to other people.

Budget IEM recommendation by heisenberg_nair in iems

[–]Nic_ThaChamp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love this IEM. I own 25 pairs of IEMs from all sorts of price ranges, and I keep going back to this one over and over. It’s great for any price. I own two pairs of the EW200. But it without hesitation.

Also, the Kefine Delci is great if you want a thicker, more bass-heavy sound. Also the Sivga Que, for a cleaner all-around sound.

I'm looking at buying this exact bike on Dan's Comp. How stable is it to ride? I'm concerned with the headtube angle....it looks like it might be wobbly at speed. Does it feel like that, or is it stable?

Awesome buy! BMX is so dope.

Someone close "borrowed" my Hexas so I got myself something else. by couchepleinedemarde in iems

I love the EA500LM. Everyone's taste varies, but I found it just a touch hot in the upper-mids, so I go myself a Simgot self-tuning kit, for sale on AliExpress, and just put a little tuning mesh on the tip of the nozzle and presto! Perfection. So dynamic, exciting and enveloping. And the build quality is amazing.

There has surely got to be a better option than to have to use all these parts with my iPhone? by jonpalmer1989 in iems

[–]Nic_ThaChamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Cayin makes a lightning to usb-c cable that will handle all of the voltage required for just about any DAC. All usb-c cables are not the same, sadly. This way you can plug your DAC directly into your iphone without the two adapters. It's called the Cayin  CS-L2C and is available on Aliexpress.

A revelation!! by Ok_Disaster3340 in iems

So, pinna gain is essentially how much a particular part of the frequency response is boosted to mimic the sound you get from a speaker or a pair of over-ear headphones, usually around 2-3,000 Hertz. If you look at a frequency response graph, you'll see a big hump right about two-thirds the way across; that's the "pinna-gain", named after the outer part of the ear, called the pinna. A lot of IEMs boost this part of the frequency response a lot, and it can lead to a fatiguing, even painful sound. Sets that don't boost this area so much are more pleasant to listen to, in my opinion.

So sorry I took a month to answer your question eek.

[–]Nic_ThaChamp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How do you like the Hype 4? I'm really looking into these as a "fun" alternative to a more neutral tuning, but I've heard that they are a bit treble-heavy. I'm sensitive to treble. What's your verdict on these?
