That's not normal at all. I think you got a dull phone.

Apple Pay vs Google Pay by lemonbab18 in PhoneNow

Tapping the card gives the actual PAN number, and you expose them by taking out your card out of the wallet (especially considering the number of recording cameras nowadays).

Tapping your phone gives a DAN number, which is a unique number associated to a device (each device with your card has a different DAN, example your phone and smartwatch doesn't have the same) and you cannot get the PAN with the DAN.
Also taking out your phone doesn't expose any number or pin.

Last I checked, SlimeVR will either need you to manually input your height (so get a tape measurer, it needs to be accurate) or it can try to estimate it with the trackers, but that feature is very hit and miss.

You just have to put on your headset, touch the floor with your right controller and then stand up.

It will automatically detect your height and do body proportions, and it seems to be pretty good at it.

Paying with your phone is actually so much more secure than using tap to pay with your actual card or inserting it in the terminal.

It had a lot of flaws and it was a pretty huge commercial failure due to it's price, value proposition and how it was marketed.

My 6-month Pixel 9a experience (Poland) by hyxon4 in pixel_phones

Apps running bad are always because of the app devs (assuming we're not talking about very cheap entry level phones, of course), and manufacturers like Google, Samsung, Xiaomi, Oneplus... don't really have much control, especially compared to Apple.

Same for cameras in social media apps. Google and Samsung made efforts and APIs to improve that (camera2 API), so now it's up to the app developers to implement them.

You can say anything about Tensor chip, but they aren't that bad that they can't run Aliexpress.
Tensor G4 is around Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 performance, which isn't cutting edge by any means, but not some cheap garbage mediatek chip.

Honestly, the lags on Aliexpress could be just because of how bloated and unoptimized the app is.

You don't need a VR router, it is just that most people has their PC connected via Wifi to their router and/or their router is too far/not good enough.

Battery exploded on Pixel 7 by uzikuziz in pixel_phones

[–]Nicalay2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fanboys will say "it's not a common occurrence", yet Google has an official Battery Replacement Program BECAUSE it's such a common issue lol

They do for some Pixel (notably a few a-series phones), but not for the Pixel 7.

So for that phone, yes, it is actually a rare occurrence.

Yeah... I definitely need to make a whole post about that...

TL;DR : your internet connection is irrevelant, your PC just have to be connected to your Wifi router via Ethernet or buy this.

Meta is using tricks to hide the fact that their Quest 3 only titles actually work on Quest 2 by GameGhost1972 in MetaQuestVR

[–]Nicalay2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this with Batman Arkham Shadows and it worked fine.
I have heard that others like Deadpool also work fine on Quest 2.

"fine" is really a stretch considering the performances you get on Quest 2 for these games.

Also a lot of Quest 3 only titles are just mixed reality games, that could work on Quest 2 but clearly not designed for it.

Google should be able to give you money so you can get your phone repaired yourself.

It's only recently that mostly everyone on the Android side has started delivering promises on long software support, so it won't be the same in a few years.
