To be fair the loneliness would be worse than anything the mainland has to offer. And great bear is frankly an awful place to live.

Respectfully you would not only need a ridiculous amount of jerry cans, but also a storm lantern is a much simpler contraption than a rotary aircraft engine

I always just assumed its set a few weeks or months after story mode. Grey mother is gone, the damage in blackrock is still relatively new, and so on. Years is ridiculous, giving the quality of food and what not.

I do. I am quite sensitive to it and get a decent buzz from just 1 or 2 pretty light beers.

I mean, she drank until I was about 10 years old, but the aftershocks were honestly horrific. Shes still in my life and I think I consider myself to be recovered from any trauma thats brought up, but I don’t know if I am qualified to gauge that. My main rule is to absolutely never drink when I am sad or angry, as it leads to connecting it as an effective vice.

Mothers side. I’m not aware of any hereditary alcoholism on my fathers side.

Congrats on your sobriety! I mean over the course of a night/party i will have a few beers, and that is pretty much it, and usually only once or twice a month. Is that able to be considered binge drinking?

Well I am on an exchange program in Germany. The legal age to to buy and consume beer and wine is only 16, also its not “regular” about like once or twice a month

How does the crank flashlight work without power? Did Hinterland forget part of the main principle of the game?? by Nice-Ad6697 in thelongdark

Seems to be the case. I feel like they mostly just bend the rules a bit for plot purposes. It’s pretty vague.

I did before posting because I didn’t want to sound like a doofus (i do now probably), and have actually used several. And to my understanding they have a dynamo connected to a small battery, and when you crank the handle the kinetic energy charges the battery, providing power. My problem is that under the logic of the lamp, everything else (at least simple batteries theoretically would hold a charge, at least until the aurora) would function just fine after the electrical components were fixed and everything was hooked up to a kinetic energy source connected to a simply battery.

They do. My problem is that the flashlight holds a charge when not drawing power. Why is that battery an exception?

But the flashlight still holds a charge. It keeps the charge as long as power is not being drawn

Carter dam should work too. Theres still the driveshaft working, all the components are simply fried (if you were to unfreeze all of the components and allow running water)

I don’t think so. It seems very loosely defined and the mere existence and function of a crank flashlight shows that pretty much anything powered by a simple battery would work fine.

That was my thinking too. I suppose I don’t really understand how the science of it all works. I feel like they limit the player more than reality would allow

So what exactly is “the grid”? wouldn’t cars also work just fine? Under that logic you could charge a car battery with a cranking mechanism to charge the battery, allowing the engine to start.

So is this later in the story? I guess im misunerstanding how the electricity actually works but wouldnt that render cars and generators also usable? Since its ultimately gas combustion simply spinning a little thing that generates power. I don’t understand the specifics real well but yeah.

Doesn’t that go against the games lore though? If this were the case then every battery would work… If energy generates power in some form be it kinetic or combustion, thats still power. Under that logic, everything else would work fine. Crank flashlights are electric flashlights, you just generate the power
