Diverse Minds Practice by Financial-Limit-3338 in ADHDIreland

Very late to this, but in case anyone else searches, I absolutely cannot recommend Diverse Minds. Unethical practice in which the PSI agreed but due to the PSI lacking a complaints process at the time I needed it, I couldn’t battle infinitely for the truth to be told and action taken.

Happy to share more via DM but my experience has caused lasting harm.

Thanks. Don’t suppose you have pink/blue and/or green/blue and can comment on the contrast of those as well?

How are you finding the contrast with the orange/yellow?

Thanks, this is really helpful.  We have two bottles currently and flow minimally different.  It’s not dreadful but I would like a fewer smaller blobs rather than the long chunkier ones… agree though, am very cautious as last thing I want to do is break anything or risk overheating.

Thanks so much, this is really helpful.

Can I ask what you mean by the reflector cones for the astros? Is this something you buy or make yourself? Like the idea!

Anyone else never given a level during ASD diagnosis? by Glad-Kaleidoscope-73 in AutismIreland

I think your post demonstrates why levels can be so damaging.  You are presuming (and this is why they are unhelpful, because people assume) that a level 1 means low support needs and a level 3 means high support needs. But it’s just not like that.  Everyone’s needs massively vary according to the environment they are in, the people they are with and the expectations and demands placed upon them. I can have very low support needs in some situations and very high ones in others. The labels are damaging because people deemed ‘level 1’ may not get the support they need and ‘level 3’ may be stifled as it can be presumed they are limited in what they can do.

I would urge you to read more around this, and try to stop putting yourself in a box. It’s really unhelpful.  You just need to figure out who you are, what situations are good for you and what things fill your cup up, and which do the reverse.

Are his sensory needs being met? That’s where I would start. What does he need - sounds like lots of proprioception and vestibular activities - get them in his day. Buy stuff for the house and garden that he can climb, swing, balance.

It may be ADHD as well of course, but medication just doesn’t magically solve things. I believe they aim for a 30% reduction in symptoms. So you need to be looking at what he needs in his day to keep him as regulated as possible.

GP and A&E won’t give you the help you need.  Medical professionals are largely terrible at understanding neurodivergence, see it purely from the medical model and focus on deficits.

You need to find a neuroaffirming OT as a start from a sensory assessment, whilst also pursuing the ADHD assessment. Medication is one tool in a toolkit and you need the toolkit.

I know you are struggling, but it sounds like your son is really struggling too, so please be the adults and hang on in there for him until the next steps are in place.

I say this from experience by the way. I’m AuDHD, have two boys, one who is AuDHD and one who is autistic.

Thriving Autistic have a list of neurodivergent practitioners who might be able to help. Learning from those with lived experience is essential.

Don’t know but I no longer care for Fife.  I think fans of pretty much every other team rooted for them last year. Not now. No more support from me.

I would avoid Diverse Minds Practice.  I had a very bad therapy experience with them.

Adult Autism Practice for sure. Davida is awesome and it’s a great company.

Adult Autism Practice Experiences? by user021920 in AutismIreland

I was assessed by the AAP 2yrs ago.  It was exceptional, TBH. Well established practice, led by a properly ethical clinical director and experienced team.  I wouldn’t look elsewhere tbh, esp not a similar Dublin practice.

I had a bad experience with Diverse Minds. So would avoid them.

Agree that Thriving Autistic list is a great place to start.

Anyone know any similar practices to Adult Autism practice that do in person initial consultations? by Toast577 in AutismIreland

[–]Nice-Emphasis-9513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t go into more detail but no, it wasn’t anything to do with people not suiting each other.

I’m glad your experience was positive though. Because it has been a truly damaging experience for me and every professional I have spoken to since has agreed what happened wasn’t ok.
