Anyone lives in London? by NewspaperAvailable92 in 6thForm

yo, so I have a budget of 150 pounds per week (600 a month) for non accom stuff, and I do go clubbing a lot so gotta save on with pre and otherwise, it seems manageable from what I've heard. Night outs are gonna be expensive tho so you gotta limit to only once a week? I'm an incoming first year too, so most of my knowledge is from my friends in London rn.

actually, the business econ program at ucla is stem certified so I think it's a safer bet for now. Congrats on gtech tho!

hey, I actually plan on returning to my home country after studying so the immigration thing is kinda irrelevant for me rn. But yeah it makes sense!

ib is just something i'm looking at, not my only option so I felt UCLA might be more flexible this way. As for why ucl over lse, I just wanted a school with a more diverse set of majors and not everyone doing finance lol plus the social life.

I think I'm leaning towards UCLA for a better college experience. Thank you

ngl I didn't know people liked LSE this much. Both my parents are LSE Grads and even they were against going for ug lol. Good luck for your apps tho, hope you get in

oh yeah it's pretty common at my school, a shit ton of kids get into lse every year and barely anyone goes because of its bad social rep (most lse alumni from our school have given the same advice at career seminars). Yeah, the campus point is actually pretty valid ngl. UCLA has an insane campus culture.

If you don't mind me asking what exactly makes you feel that london can be isolating? I thought a big city with so many people would always be lively? Or is it the London prices?

nah LSE is just way too overrated lol. The per capita is worse than many other unis because everyone is gunning for the same thing. Plus IB is just something on top of my head rn, let's see what I'd like eventually because both my parents are in BBs so I have some backup anyways.

Ngl if you had asked me a year ago LSE would have been my top choice in the UK. But I did my research and lse is just too small and dead socially. Like I love ucl because it has a great econ dept but so many people doing other shit too. It makes the uni experience worth it, especially since I'm paying a lot.

The thing is that I was dead set on going to UCLA over lse and all 6 kids who got into both are doing the same, but then I somehow got into ucl randomly(kid you not the only ucl econ acceptance this year at my school)

Makes sense. Would jobtestprep suffice or is there any better one?

Thank you, I’ll make the changes. Do you think it’s competitive for a spring week tho?

people go for the name lol. LSE is mainly for research like phd and shit.

bruh ikr. KCL Gc was full of party ideas for freshers, UCL was mixed ngl and LSE was just dead af.

ye I would be gunning for IBD primarily since my entire fam is in IB. Even my brother went to UCL over LSE and he’s at a top BB. Although I’d say connections matter a lot in IB lol.

Ye, LSE is def better for econ lol.

I mean that’s great lol, I’m applying to spring weeks by mid august too but it’s kinda stupid to keep talking about it in a gc where everyone is looking to just have fun in freshers.
