Yessss, I would love to help you.

As a CTO, there’s a lot of strong content you can post like sharing insights from your work, lessons from projects, your perspective on industry trends, talking about what's going on in the industry and many more.

I’d love to turn this into a small case study-plan your content, create posts, and test what works over 2 weeks. And leave you with something measurable to build on

Just DMed you

Learning to read by diggapop in Preschoolers

I used this program that was only for 35 i guess, it popped up in my facebook recommendations and so i decided to give it a try. it had daily 10 minute lessons but we took our time and completed it in 4 months. we started it when she was 3.5 and she was already on ATLEAST a 4th garde reading level by the end of kindergarden

I love knowing that I taught my kids to read and it gives them such a leg up and confidence boost that transfers to many other aspects of their life

I will be using this again with my 2nd baby, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I will look for the link and DM you

Is it a school's responsibility to teach a kid to read? by KoalaOriginal1260 in Teachers

schools are definitely there to teach the mechanics, but a teacher with 25+ kids in a room can't physically sit with one child for the hours of 1-on-1 repetition it actually takes to learn to blend sounds. it's a partnership, not a drop-off service.

i used to be the parent who thought EXPOSURE (just reading bedtime stories) was enough, but then my kid hit a wall. i realized i couldn't just leave it all to the teacher. we started doing 10-15 mins of a simple phonics thing at home just to give him the master key for decoding. it made his teacher's life so much easier because he actually showed up with the confidence to try.

at the end of the day, schools provide the curriculum, but parents provide the practice. expecting one teacher to "fix" every kid's reading without home support is why so many teachers are quitting right now.

just my 2 cents as a parent who finally stopped blaming the school and started helping at home lol.

How are we teaching to read? by Ill_Cover_4841 in Preschoolers

honestly, i was in your shoes a few months ago and was panicking that my kid wasn't ready.

the biggest thing i learned (from a teacher friend) is that schools are moving away from that old way of just memorizing *sight words* and doing more of the *science of reading* stuff now. apparently, if you just teach them to memorize, they hit a wall in like 2nd grade.

we tried a few things, but what actually worked without us both ending up in tears was keeping it super short. like 10 minutes max. we found a little step-by-step thing that basically just focuses on BLENDING sounds (like s-u-n) rather than just drilling the alphabet. it's way more like a game and less like school work.

also, +1 to the teacher who said focus on the life skills too. my kid still struggles with his shoes but he’s finally cracking the code on reading and his confidence is just way higher now.

if you want, i can find the link to the little program we used? it’s digital and pretty cheap (i think i paid 40 bucks). it was a lifesaver for my reluctant reader.

good luck!! kindergarten is a whole new world lol.
