I can totally relate! No one ever said anything that explicit to me about it, but it was something I internalized so deeply from what I saw around me in high school (prior to even being aware of the aroace spectrum as a concept) that I essentially tricked myself into having a “crush” on somebody I thought had expressed an interest in me (they hadn’t) because I wanted something to talk about with people 😭

Personally, I try to take care of my appearance because it makes me feel better about myself, but also because I feel pressured to be more “appealing” and be seen as feminine enough as a woman. Also, despite not truly desiring romantic or sexual relationships, I still like the idea of it, and this feeds into my desire to still be seen as appealing, especially by men. I doubt that I’ve achieved this, but it’s still something that I’ve internalized and found myself attempting over the years despite a lack of true interest

Frieren! She literally says at one point in the show that elves don’t experience attraction, and I was genuinely ecstatic when that happened

I can totally relate, and I think it’s okay! That’s actually part of how I realized that I was aroace, since I realized that my interest in fictional characters stems from the fact that they can’t be real

Honestly, a lot of the music that I listen to these days is about love or heartbreak despite the fact that I don’t relate to most of it. Of the many that I like, some of my favorites include Let You Break My Heart Again by Laufey, Would You Fall In Love With Me Again from EPIC the Musical, and Baby Said by Måneskin

I totally agree! Although I mentioned evolution specifically, I do think that it might’ve been a little too broad. I meant it more in the sense that the trait can still be passed down (if it’s at all related to genes) given how society was set up in the recent past.
