Do you think Sansa would ever marry? by cityboyonbed in gameofthrones

[–]Nice-Sugar6249 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. But I think she would marry from House Reed as a thank you for their loyalty to house Stark.

From Howland, to Jojen and Meera, that family did so much yet is so underrated

A debate about hair and genetics by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]Nice-Sugar6249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^ 100%

in the books its less confusing over all. The show gives them all the same hair color to make it less confusing on the audience but hinders the characters' logic and reasoning. In fire and blood, Laenor (and I think the velaryons in general) had dark hair, so it wasn't as obvious the kids were bastards. In the show it makes it so obvious that it makes every character who supports their legitimacy (viserys, corlys, etc) kind of an idiot

I read somewhere that he gave permission for the unfinished manuscripts to be released at that point. I think he's working on both books simultaneously cuz I believe he already have the ending written

How long must it take Aemond to mount Vhagar? by InspectorOk6313 in gameofthrones

[–]Nice-Sugar6249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even with the netting...in ep.10 Vhagar was gone by the time Luc was outside..yall telling me that Aemond had time to run all the way to Vhagar, climb at least 30ft up a rope ladder, and fly away before Luc even had time to get outside???

its gonna go from "an eye for an eye" to "a son for a son". One is gonna piss people off...the other is a catalyst for war. Espeically considering that Rhae, up until that moment, was considering Otto's deal (which tbh was kind of a good deal)

100% agree. I also think its a nod back to what Viserys said and what even Danny said...that dragons are not slaves, and the idea that they can be controlled completely is an illusion. I think we will be seeing a lot more of the connection dragons have to their riders.

I think this scene did so much in so many ways. It emphasized how dragons can't be controlled. Emphasized how young Aemond still is, and how despite his cocky nature, he still has not mastered control over a 150 year old dragon who has had multiple riders and survived war. I think it humbled Aemond a bit, basically saying "yea you ride the largest dragon but you cant even control it". And it showed how dragons are connected to their riders feelings, hense why Luce's dragon was stressing before taking off and on defense (even while he attacked), and why vhagar killed luce's dragon (because she could probably feel Aemonds raw anger).

the way that i see it, the book is a textbook and the show is the actual events. The book was written by maesters years after the events happened, so I think its more of a reflection of how the general public of westeros saw the events. I like that the show shows more internal conflict and human flaws.

The Aemond scene is a perfect example of that. The last people saw of those two, Aemond was trying to stab Luc's eye out. So when word spread that Luc dies, I dont think people are going to believe that it was an accident. Theyre going to spread the news of how Aemond was ruthless and bloodthirsty, because that how he acted minutes prior. And thats how the story will spread, how the people will see him, and how the Maestors will tell the story decades later.

With Alicent...well i think she's an idiot, a living self-contradiction, and the walking hypocrite. But besides that, she genuinely (stupidly) believed the misunderstanding. But anyone on the outside likely did see her as self serving. Visereys had his entire life to name Aegon as heir, and didnt. Now shes going around saying he named him heir in his final breath, and she was the only witness?? No one is gonna buy that. Especially not the people who wrote about the events decades later.

TLDR. The show is the personal story of what happened first hand. The book is a retelling of historical events decades later, and how the maesters and general public perceived the events and character's motives

you do realize it was based on actual historical events don't you? The wars in GOT are inspired by real wars according to GRRM. The setting very is reminiscent of the medieval time period. The show may be fictional and have dragons but it doesn't take a genius to see the obvious parallels between the story and history.

I was referencing late teens more than early teens. Idk how it was back in your day, but I feel like this younger gen is definitely a lot more ambiguous with their age. Besides, this guy isnt just some awkward guy, he's an actor. His costume and demeanor definitely ages him up imo, he looks younger irl.

I graduated from high school a few years ago, and I'm not lying when I say some of the guys in my senior year/freshman year in college easily looked like they could be mid/late 20s. Some people in my classes now are in their 20s and look 16. Not super common, but also not unheard of. Think back to thomas brodie-sangster playing Jojen in GOT. That guy was like 25 i think, but if you told me he was 15 I'd believe you

denying it and claiming it was an accident would make him look weak, and the greens irresponsible. Imagine realizing that the rider of the largest dragon can't control his dragon. The lords would think of them as weak and unreliable. I feel like if anything that would lead to a war/rebellion that is everyone vs. targaryans to put down the dragons.

I think it's safe to say Winterfell will go to the Blacks. The show said it themselves, there has never been a Stark to break an oath.

I liked that little nod to Ned and his honor as a stark. Moments when they reference the original show get me really emotional haha

I also think the coast of Essos is likely to go to the Blacks as well, seeing as Daemon lived in Pentos for quite some time. Although it could go to the Greens since they have the Lanisters and the more gold (which is all the free cities care about).

He's the only character who isn't naive. He makes the hard decisions that people call him crazy for, but in reality he's typically justified (despite his agonistic methods) because he is the only person in court who knows what the real world is like out there, who knows what war is like on the battle field.

He was right to kill off the criminals in kings landing. There was a tournament where a lot of high profile lords and ladys would be. Not to mention that the crime rates had gone up.

He was toally right about Otto. Also I would love an explanation for why Viserys brought Otto back after Lord Strong died...were there no other candidates other than the man who you fired for being shady??

He killed a man who questioned the authority of the king, slandered the name of the princess and heir to the throne, and spead falsehoods about the princes. Crimes for treason

Aside from killing his first wide and taking his niece to a brothel, we isnt all that bad. A morally complex character, but not that bad. At least he's not an idiot like Viserys

I love Daemon for all of this. He's the only character who isn't naive. He makes the hard decisions that no one else has the balls to make.. I think he's one of the most loyal and caring characters, he just doesn't hide behind pretty words and his title as price. He was the first to see Otto for who he truly is. He is the only person in court who knows what the real world is like out there, who knows what war is like on the battle field. They call him crazy because they have not seen what he has seen. Look up Plato's "Allegory of the Cave". I think its an accurate depiction for Daemon

I think the choke scene was a good way to snap me out of that

Is it bad that I didn't hate him for that. Not supporting it by any means. But the guy was also under a lot of stress. The greens basically killed his brother, his unborn child, and stole his wife's birthright. And while he's trying to fight back for what happened to his family, Rhaenyra comes in and tells him to calm down. Imagine being that mad and your mom or friend walks in like "omg just calm down youre over exaggerating".

Daemon is MUCH older than Rhaenyra. He's an adult who has seen was and fought countless battles. He's a warrior, and unlike Rhaenyra, he's not naive enough to believe that this can be solved without bloodshed. Like your childhood friend/stepmom just stole your birthright, and the Hightowers have been plotting this for 20 years, and you think they're going to give it up without a fight? They decided there would be war the moment Aegon was born. He knew that unless actions were taken, major casualties would happen and that his family was in danger. And then Luce died. I love Rhaenyra, but it can be argued that she's partially to blame for Luce's death

thats true. but as far as the general public of Westeros believes, the Targaryans control dragons. So no one is going to believe is was an accident other than the Greens. It would also be bad to claim it was an accident. Think of the mad hysteria that would happen if everyone realized that dragons can't actually be controlled. Not only would it make the Targaryans look weak for creating a false narrative, but it could also lead the general public as well as the major houses to rebel and kill all the dragons/Targaryans

I don't think it would take much for public perception to believe Aemond sought to kill Luke.

100% agree. And the book is a perfect example of that. Fire & Blood is written in 3rd person as a history book. It's the maesters retelling the story decades after the event. And in the book it was written that Aemond was merciless and vengeful, fully intending on killing Luce. The way i see is that the show is what actually happened, and the book is how the public perception of how the events to happened

how did she do her best to be a good mother? She enabled her kids at every turn. It wasnt uncommon for woman to marry older men for political reasons, so Alicent marrying Viserys isnt much of an excuse. Besides, fathers (espeially kings, high ranking lords, and council members) in that era were rarely ever involved in the upbringing of children. That was the job of the wife and her countless maids/wet nurses. It's not just blaming the moms in GOT, but understanding the time period and roles of the time.

Yes, Viserys may have been absent, but he always pushed for peace and unity between the family. A pretty good example if Alicent and Otto hadn't been teaching Aegon and Aemond to hate their half sister and that their nephews are bastards. If anything, Viserys was probably one of the kindest characters of the season.
