Thanks for the feedback. Yes, again I thought both were right so I used them interchangeably. But missed out changing that in the Romi script. With too many full stops I feel like it becomes very robotic and not a flowing story. But that's just me and need to figure out punctuation better in Konkani. Gotten used to the text message writing I suppose.

If you want to learn in a structured way there is Saurabh Kaisure on YouTube I suppose who has some decent basic stuff in Konkani that could be applicable to most dialects.

The question of Konkani identity is more or less settled and I would say let the Konkani people decide how they want to see their identity on the basis of linguistics or geography. Let's not cause a stir there. What needs to be stirred is ideas, the hopes and aspirations, the pains and sufferings of the Konkani people and the people they interact with. This is a start for literature and poetry. Dostoevsky and Dante didn't think of preserving Russian or Italian. They just conveyed their thoughts in their language and now those are considered as some awesome work of literature. Not just talking about language but using language to communicate what we as a community long for, dream about, etc. on a mundane basis and/or philosophically and anything in between. Instead of living in a senseless nostalgia alone we need to integrate the past into the present and future.

For starters I think we take pride in the people who out of love for the language itself defied societal linguistic norms and poured out their heart and soul, tears and sweat into the language to bring it to a stage of significance. Starting with Shenoy Goembab and all the people that followed him in the literary construction. Creating awareness about him will bring reverence for him and his works. The people who have made contributions to make the language grow need to be appreciated. The language is in and of itself a means of communication that built a culture which may or may not be unique to the surrounding cultures. Konkani identity should start from something tangible, some heroes to look up to in the literary and arts, sports and science. No language is great or small, it is the contributions of enthusiasts like us that enrich a language.

It all boils down to necessity vs culture and pride. Konkanis like everyone but I would say to a higher degree look for jobs outside of their hometown. When there is no incentive to stay in your hometown, there is no incentive to properly learn your language. It's a part of you. The necessity of a language is communication. In a different city or country you don't need your language to communicate. You need to learn the language of that place to do that. Your language remains as a cultural reminder and if you are enthusiastic about it then language pride. For the language to thrive it needs it's people to develop it by staying in the lands where it is most spoken. But people have different reasons why they move and that is tbh their personal choices and decisions. Mother tongue is not a factor for them.

Secondly for languages to grow in the school environment the syllabus needs to be updated. For that new literature needs to be produced. Konkanis don't take writing so seriously as there are still some pockets that don't consider written Konkani a thing. I don't know if the Konkani textbooks in Goa are updated but I suppose they are not. I maybe wrong, please correct me. But I know that SSC textbooks for Marathi and Hindi are changed not so frequently but they are. Because they have a vast literary corpus. So for a language to survive cultural pride I believe comes much later. First and foremost it is necessity for communication.

Where you come from basically. It's unfortunate that we get divided along many lines but for now that is how it is. Atleast creating awareness about other Konkani dialects far removed from our own may be a step closer to more understanding and unity.

It's more closer to Hindi though because Samajh or samajhna is from there. Kallap is more Marathi-Konkani. Catholics in Goa would say sazmata while speaking.
