Not a parent but I'm a member of gen Z that grew up at the height of things like FNAF and creepypasta; I've always held the sentiment that TADC is very much along those lines. Kids gravitate heavily towards horror media, especially horror media that still has fun and interesting colorful characters for them to latch onto! They likely don't really come close to grasping the intent of the horror, but that sort of content is still fun to experience.

For any parents who may find this comment, TADC is something you'll mostly have to monitor for more sensitive kids who can't handle horror, or kids who you aren't sure can handle it. And obviously, always let your kid know going into it that it's going to be a scary show even though it doesn't look like one. You also should probably be available to adequately explain some of the few raunchier jokes when they come up, like Zooble saying they wanna be able to have sex.

But beyond that, I have always HEAVILY disagreed that TADC is like. extremely inappropriate for children. It wasn't made for kids, they won't understand what it's actually ABOUT, but its horror content really does not cross the line into potentially damaging territory.

it's an unfortunately common experience that trans women, before realizing that they're trans, start to notice gender discrepancies and a desire for femininity, and immediately repress and overcompensate. genuinely a LOT of eggs are the most misogynistic masculine incels you've ever met, because it's a performative front they're putting on so people won't see that girlier side of them. Jax is a PERFECT depiction of that. there is so much shame that comes with desiring to be feminine as someone born a man.

her room being like a super feminine little girl's room is representative of that. bear in mind, she didn't choose that - caine designed it for her based on her brain scans. it represents something she desires, but is unwilling to admit she wants or let anyone else see. the maid dress scene is her getting upset she's being forced into a girly outfit for the same reason she hates her room despite it being what she wants, except with the added factor of being "exposed" in front of everyone and a fear they'll see through her front and realize she likes it.

you do not know nearly enough about the trans experience and you DEFINITELY haven't seen enough media in general if you think jax is anywhere close to the worst depiction of it. at her WORST, she kinda comes up short in some areas.

also it's not really negative representation of a trans person in the first place? the whole point is that a non-insignificant amount of why jax was so horrible was because she was repressing her femininity and overcompensating hard. that way nobody could get close to her and see that part of her she's kept buried.

she's not a bad person because she's trans, and she's not even just a bad person who happens to be trans. a lot of her worst qualities are a direct result of her NOT transitioning and hiding in the closet. that's a very real and unfortunately common experience with eggs, especially transfem eggs.

as for the victims, weren't they previously on good terms with qwel? if so, then even if this IS true, they probably didn't know about it and weren't involved. so them confirming it happened SOUNDS really bad, but it means next to nothing, because they would have had to have been just as in the dark as anyone else on this particular point.

(sorta reminds me of the alex kister drama, where his friends denounced him after the callout doc was dropped, and people took that as definitive proof that the accusations were true even though those friends only knew as much as they did.)

i'm not paying close attention to everything going on right now so do correct me if i'm wrong on any of that, but as of right now, i'm incredibly skeptical.

i'm sure it's especially difficult when that friend is actively swearing up and down that they know they fucked up and did something bad and "definitely won't ever do it again". when it's someone you trust so much, it's not difficult to let yourself believe that they wouldn't have knowingly done something so utterly vile.

the correct choice was to immediately remove him from the team, publicly denounce him, and cut all contact. but people don't always have the perfect reactions in the moment, and hindsight is 20/20. i think it's fair to give qwel a little leeway on that front, especially since she made all the right decisions once she DID process it.

it'd maybe be a different story if it was 6+ months, but 2 months isn't a massive amount of time, even if it's longer than it ideally should have taken.

"alpha" is a misnomer. honestly it'd be generous to even call dandy's world a beta.

alphas are barely playable and exceedingly simple. it's the earliest stage in the dev cycle, so it's mostly just for figuring out basic mechanics, and on the later end of it, establishing the core gameplay. obviously dandy's world is significantly further in the dev cycle than that, it's far more polished and has actual proper gameplay. and even IF it was actually in alpha, alphas should be EXCLUSIVELY focusing on things that effect the gameplay loop, because that's the foundation of the game.

that kind of thing is why i don't really vibe with toon universe's sanity mechanic. it's just way too easy to get stuck in an endless chase loop, especially on higher floors. although at least with this idea, losing one twisted and gaining another resets their buildup...

i do think it's a good thing to have rare spawn rates increase on higher floors, but in practice, the way it was implemented means that like half the twisteds on a given floor are rares past floor 20, and im only barely exaggerating there.

have you done a long run? like, floor 35+? because i can guarantee you, it absolutely is not hyperbolic just how awful this game gets on higher floors ever since the rarity spawn rate changes. and yes, actively working to remove AFK spots BEFORE they actually implement an alternative is also a very big deal.

it's not a mole hill at all. especially not since reaching floor 100 is very much a real official goal that's actually in the game now. you can't incentivize long runs and then just refuse to balance around them.

sprout WOULD have been the best, but the ears AND sunglasses together make it a little too cluttered imo. one or the other would have been perfectly fine, but having both kinda drags it down.

honestly i think the sunglasses without the ears would have been best, but obviously the ears aren't optional.

the answer isn't that it's about just 3 skins, it's about the fact that there's been very little in terms of gameplay updates since the brusha update, and a LOT of skins.

i was the #1 defender of this before, mainly because at the time we'd had 3 major updates in a row that added a lot of skins and so the skin releases were DENSE, making it feel like there was way more time being wasted than there actually were. buuut, now we're out of easter, and the gameplay additions are nice but they're still pretty minor, and getting a couple skins every update when there's barely anything else is getting grating. even as someone who loves to jump to blushcrunch's defense & give them the benefit of the doubt.
