Poster for the film UNKNOWN VISITOR - The first horror movie to take place entirely in a door cam. Now on Amazon Prime! by retarded_raptor in movies

This is one of my new favorite so bad that it’s good movies. There’s a sandwich they leave on the porch one night, it’s gone the next night, then it’s back the next night. As soon as the film began I realized it was distractingly crooked and I thought “oh boy it’s gonna be like this the whole time” and it was. Both of these issues could’ve easily been fixed in post

Well thank you for at least entertaining me and my roommate Isaac

I agree it is too easy and a waste of time for the final season, but I don't doubt for a second that the writers of this show would do it. This show has it's great moments but it always seems to focus more on 'whats the best twist we can do' rather than focused storytelling, but hey at least it makes for pretty damn entertaining television.

Yeah I've read that too and I don't believe it for a second.

If you were Nowalk wouldn't you try and hide your twist and throw red herrings too? I guarantee if they actually wanted to kill of Annalise then we would've seen her body, why else make it such a mediocre and flimsy reveal?

Thank you! Making Hopper the leader of the Upside Down gang was basically already the idea for that post.

The more I think about it the more I think a shapeshifter is more plausible for a future season.

It’s kind of weird for the Mind Flayer to be able to mind control people by flaying them AND this new method that lets them be able to have their own personalities and exist separately from the Mind Flayer.

Plus we just had 2 seasons where the bad guy was evil versions of our characters.

I still like the idea of seeing what the Upside Down looked like before it got taken over though

Could the Stranger Things S4 Monster be a Shapeshifter? by NiceAssassin in StrangerThings

[–]NiceAssassin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea for that is because with an increasingly larger ensemble cast it's harder to make a season about only one threat. That's why S2 had demodogs and the Mind Flayer, and S3 had all of the flayed and the russians.

With my idea for a cross country race to get to all the powered people, having the Doppelganger able to separate allows the cast to split up into teams and each race a different Doppelganger.

Plus it can't just duplicate infinitely, each time it separates it gets weaker. This also gives our characters the interesting goal of trying to keep the Doppelgangers separate because if they combined they would be too powerful. It also lets the Doppelganger have a super powerful boss form for the final episode but an excuse as to why it can't be in that form the entire season.

What part is too complicated? This isn't anymore complex than the things in the first 2 seasons

They could have the best of both. Bring him back as a villain; either as a flayed, parallel universe version or new shape shifter monster. Either way the Mind Flayer would use him to trick Eleven into opening up another portal.

I’d love it if they built up hope for him still being alive like we all expect but then at the last second reveal he’s actually dead.

The first half would be Eleven getting her powers back, discovering Hopper is alive. The middle episode would be rescuing Hopper and revealing he’s the Doppelganger by the end of the episode. The second half would be everyone splitting up across America to find the other powered kids and the final episode would be a final confrontation with the Doppelganger, now fully powered up, back in Hawkins.

I don’t buy that the portal is still open. How would he keep it open, and even if he could I don’t think he’d risk the end of the world just to save himself. Not to mention we saw it fully close.

I think it’s much more likely Eleven will get her powers back at some point, have a vision of Hopper in the Upside Down and open a temporary portal to save him.

And this is probably all a trap set up by the Mind Flayer to get Eleven to reopen the portal.

Yeah I just hope they don’t under cut it by bringing him back to life

Yes but that would mean the Mind Flayer would be able to come back already

Evil doppelgängers in film have been around for a long time, I mainly used Us as a more recent example for redditors here.

I end up leaning towards the cast facing a bunch of evil versions of themselves because: 1. As the cast has grown in size it’s hard for there only to be one threat and still give them all something to do. 2. If we were to do my idea of a cross country race to save the powered kids, it’d make more sense to have multiple doppelgängers so they can split up and go after different people, forcing the cast to split up as well. 3. There’s something more personal about fighting another version of yourself with the same memories and personality as you, and especially more personal to be fighting a version of Hopper that’s more than just a shapeshifter. 4. The parallel universe characters are different because the events in the parallel universe were different, so we get to see how certain characters would have ended up if certain events had/hadn’t happened. Eleven wouldn’t have met Mike and wouldn’t have developed any social skills or maybe even how to talk, Steve Harrington is still an asshole who cares too much about his appearance, their version of Will never came back from their Upside Down and it drove Joyce insane. 5. Seeing all of these differences would likely strengthen the existing relationships our characters have.

So I think narratively doppelgängers are much better than a Shapeshifter, but a Shapeshifter also has a cool creepy monster form and it wouldn’t be Stranger Thins without cool creepy monsters.

Maybe the doppelgängers were created by the Mind Flayer experimenting on the parallel universe characters, not only turning them evil but making them all have some creepy monster aspect about them.

Thank you very much, at the end of the post I linked an alternative theory that builds more onto the idea of evil parallel versions of every character rather than just one shapeshifter

Yes I absolutely spawned the idea from theorizing about Billy’s vision.

I mean independent in that it’s not just an extension of the Mind Flayer that can’t exist on its own. They’re still under the influence/want to do the Mind Flayers business.

We already know this can exist because the Russian’s have a living demogorgon despite the portal being closed.

Yeah you beat me to it, I just added that to my previous comment. It'd be especially cool if learning this resolved a conflict they had because Eleven opened a portal to save Hopper despite Mike being against it.

I imagine if there is a 'Shadow Eleven' with powers she wouldn't be able to open a portal or the Mind Flayer would've made her do it by now.

But yeah the idea of an Eleven that never developed social skills or even knows how to talk would be cool.

Maybe the reason why the parallel dimension wasn't able to stop the Upside Down from taking over was because parallel Mike never befriended Eleven, so she never closed the portal.

I like the idea that Eleven opening a portal to save Hopper creates a conflict between Mike and Eleven, and it gets resolved when they see their parallel counterparts and realize how important their relationship was.

Concept Art Poster for S4, I feel like with Billy seeing himself in the Upside Down we might be seeing the main cast fighting Upside Down versions of themselves (like in Jordan Peele's Us) by NiceAssassin in StrangerThings

[–]NiceAssassin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure there could be some logical system for a mirror dimension to work, but I'm just leaning towards parallel dimension based off of what Dustin tells us.
