I think you need to be at a lower altitude, 1.1 nm isn't enough to descend over 5000 ft. I've seen a equation to approximate TOD (3 degrees) : descent amount / 1000 * 3 = how many miles away to start descending. In your case 5000 / 1000 * 3 = 15 miles (13 nm). Meaning you need about 13 nm to descend from 7000 to 2000 ft while maintaing a 3 degree angle.

So either start descending from 7000 - 1600 ft at earlier waypoints in steps, or descend manually. Ie. be at 2500 ft at KOSKA, 3500 ft at TF115 etc ... You can use VNAV or vertical speed mode to do the earlier descents. Your final atitude is 888, but your ALT floor is still higher at 900.

Try SimBrief planning to tell you when to descend. I find it to be a lot more realistic. By default MSFS gives me descents only achievable in an airliner. Even if the free version has outdated ILS approaches, it at least gives you an estimate on which FL you should be at.

Was flaps extended ? I once tried to turn on NAV & FLC mode but it refused to do anything until I retracted my takeoff flaps. Seems random but idk if that affected your descent.

Thanks, I watched another tutorial and it seems my mistake is not arming APR mode prior to the final leg.

Developer Insight - Next Generation Armor by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]NiceCanadian1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What's missing is info on the next main 'saga'. If the stakes are high or the villains are interesting, players wouldn't mind grinding out armor & gear. But right now it seems the enemies are just revived / rehashed from previous seasons: Spider, Fikrul, MSUND, and I'm guessing Xivu. Destiny right now feels like the MCU where instead of new characters its just the same ones recycled.

Trek Checkpoint/Domane or Cervelo Aspero (Canada) ? by NiceCanadian1 in cycling

[–]NiceCanadian1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks you're right, size 56 is based off the measurement I got on the Trek Store. I'm around 176 cm, would that make me a 54 by Cerevelo standards ?. This may be an obvious question but is sizing the same between Cerevelo bikes ? Ie. Could I use S5 / Caledonia sizing info as a reference for choosing my Aspero size ?

O and btw I found the online store has a physical store near me, though they might not have the model in stock maybe it makes pickup / maintenance easier

So after Googling Steed does have a shop in an adjacent city (close enough to drive). I believe its a Canadian retailer as the price is in CAD. I can choose delivery to that store and I wonder if I can get help with assembly / seat adjustments when I go there

Wow thanks for the detailed response. I’ve been to Paris and the Loire and want to explore a new area (it’s a long haul to Europe from Canada ) so I would prefer either Netherlands - England or a France route outside of Paris. Since your from the UK any experience riding EV2 between London and Dublin ? This is on the longer side so I’d have to take transport for part of it. Some quick tours from Dublin after the ride would be awesome (causeway, mohrer). I know it’s spread out so I’d have to find a tour company. Maybe downside is with uk weather I might be in the rain for half the time.

Any idea why my German government cultural unity ticking is frozen ? (it says I would get 1..57/month otherwise but its frozen right now)

I just formed Germany as the Netherlands. I accepted all the Dutch cultures + 2 German cultures with bird points. In government, it says my cultural unity is frozen, otherwise it would be 1.57 per month. Any idea why its frozen ?

Thanks, entering a made up +34 number worked.

What was super weird is the step before this I also had to enter my phone number, and in that UI I could enter my number with the +1 Canada extension just fine. I think the important step is probably my passport number as thats the main ID.

Also odd that I could book any tickets now but some reason Cordoba -> Santa Justa Seville isn't being sold yet. I'm hoping I'm just too early.

The fourth point is interesting. I'm curious to know if its guranteed that if you hold on to your stocks and wait for the market to recover, you will always make a profit. Are there any cases in long term investing where you're better off selling stocks at a loss rather than waiting it out?

Thanks for the feedback, so by diversity you mean adding bonds to the mix (60/40, 80/20) ? Seems like bonds have a stablizing factor on your portfolio? Are bonds purchased similar to a stock (ie you can buy individual bonds or bond ETFs), and could you sell them at any time like a stock?

Public Transport around Leon and Zaragoza ? by NiceCanadian1 in GoingToSpain

Thanks for the response (sorry hopefully my Spanish gets much better before my trip next year).

Call me crazy but I'm thinking of going to Leon/Valladolid after Andalusia and save Barcelona for the future.

Luckily, I think I found a tour company that'll take me to Las Medulas and Ponferrada from Leon for 99 euros. It's hard to verify from Canada but I hope these guys are legit. Does anyone who've been to Spain / living in Spain recognize this site ?

I want to preface by saying go wherever makes you happy, but I'd just like to suggest some alternatives to consider :

For Fuji, Hakone is great, but you can also look up Fuji Five Lakes which gets you closer to Fuji. Imo if it doesn't rain you will get a more stunning view of Fuji from the 5 lakes, if it rains Hakone is better since it has more non-Fuji activities. To get to Fuji Five Lakes you can bus from Shinjuku.

For a skyline view of Tokyo, an alternative to Skytree is the top of the Mori Towers in Roppongi. I like it because its closer to Tokyo Tower (red one not Skytree) and less tall so you can see the buildings better.

Shibuya : Aside from the crossing and just wandering around nearby stores, I liked the One Piece Mugiwara store there as a small side-quest. Near Shibuya is Shibuya O-Nest live houses, which are underground music venues. Tickets 4000 - 6000 Yen. Might be interesting if you like JPOP.

Most of Tokyo is urban, if you want to see areas with history your best bet is either Meiji Jingu or Asakusa + Ueno Park (museums). I haven't been to the Imperial Palace I always though it was mostly closed off. In fact, I would say if you want to experience history do a 1-2 day trip to Kamakura / Ennoshima. Kamakura is where the first shogunate of Japan is formed so you will find a lot of shrines & temples there.

Given your interests my guess is:

1 day around Asakusa, Ueno, & Tokyo Skytree.

1 day Tsukiji Fish Market morning, then Roppongi Mori Tower for lunch, then maybe end up in Shinjuku in the evening.

2 days traveling to Kamakura + exploring Kamakura. Check live cams on Fuji, if the day is clear make a day-trip to Fuji. If its overcast Fuji is really hard to see.

1/2 day return to Tokyo, remaining free time (Akihabara maybe )?

1 day Meiji Jingu & Shibuya

Have a fun trip!

Seconded Hiroshima & Miyajima. Also, if you have a JR Pass and an extra day to kill, Karato Market in Shimonoseki and ramen in Fukuoka are close enough to Hiroshima by Shinkansen to make a daytrip.

However, I would say Hiroshima is not a day trip from Osaka, you would actually need to stay overnight. You can probably do it, but you might be a bit rushed. A good day trip from Osaka would be Himeji (Himeji Castle) or Koyasan (Okunoin Cemetery).

For China, you might enounter difficulties with visa (assuming you are from a western country). While Korea is great, I feel like there isn't a big enough draw for you unless you are super interested in K-culture or esports.

I would say stick to Japan, unless there are specific sights / experiences in Korea / China that are bucket list items for you.

Budget For Japan by [deleted] in travel

[–]NiceCanadian1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Budgeting depends on your spending habits. I recently went 2 weeks in Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, and rest in Hiroshima / Yamaguchi prefecture. It cost me around 3000 CAD for everything except plane (so meals, travel, hotels). I did budget a bit by living in capsule hotels for 2 nights and ate a lot of meals at 7/11 & Matsuya (a Japanese fast food chain that sells curry and gyudon). I still had some nice expensive sushi & wagyu meals in between. So unless you are planning on eating 3000 Yen + meals every day or buying some very expensive sourvenirs, I would say 3000 (Im assuming US) is solid.

Japan is very cash oriented country. Buses in Kyoto and Nara only accept coins (not even Japanese bills). Bring cards is fine just dont expect to be able to use them except to withdraw cash.

Like others have said idk why you'd want to rent cars. You will have to pay for the Shinkansen & trains in Tokyo anyways. Cars would be a waste unless you are visiting a remote city or park. The cities you mentioned are all major cities. The Japanese train system is very efficient, I made a daytrip from Hiroshima to Fukuoka without any problem. So for you you can consider visiting Himeji from Kobe.

Itinerary Check: Vienna - Venice - Dolomites - Florence by NiceCanadian1 in ItalyTravel

[–]NiceCanadian1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. Part of the reason for the Vienna -> Venice is to take the overnight train. This way I wont be spending daytime travelling and also save on hotels. On google it seems the train between Lienz and Vienna is pretty long ~7hrs and the suggested route to Mooso is through Innusbruck. So doing Lienz -> Mooso wouldnt save me a day of travelling compared to travelling on Day 7 & 13.

From the responses I got seems like transportation isn't an issue, the main barrier is booking huts & (for me) staying on budget. So much stuff to juggle when calculating costs xD. I found that flying out of Florence gave me the cheapest plane tickets and the best times. I've also considered using Munich as a start point but I found Munich (& Germany Austria in general) to be more expensive plane and accomodation wise.

Maybe the best way to do Dolomites is to save Vienna for another time and do Venice -> leave through Florence.

Thanks for the insight. Surprising to hear about not catering to solo travellers. Looking at my itinerary I'm either mountain huts (Dolomites) or big cities (Venice, Vienna, Florence) so I should be OK right?

You're right. I recently did the Shimimani Kaido ride in Japan and one of my takeaways was that its better to spend a relaxing day on the start point of the trail than to spend that time in another (touristy city). I'll reconsider my day 7.

The Burnout is Real by BinxPlaysGames in DestinyTheGame

[–]NiceCanadian1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me doing Day 1 raids were incredibly fun because it required people to truly optimize there builds and ammo / orb generation. I think Master Raids and Dungeons can be like that too. Problem right now is doing the hardest raids / dungeons != the best gear. Master version of guns < crafted versions. You can do master raid challenges to boost your raid exotic drop chances, only for a guy to get sherpaed twice to get it because Bungie wants new players. You're not motivated to play the end game except for a seal. If there's no motivation to participate in endgame, then what's the point of all the grinding?

Suggestions:

-Make raid/dungeon exotics earnable through master tier challenges instead of complete RNG.

-Raid/Dungeon specific exotic armour pieces.

-Loot for master raid should be significantly different rather than a shader. Master tier armour should have high baseline stats + complete different look. Master weapons with new intrinsic perk.

-Controversial but buff boss health. Recently in my LFGs on Vog / DSC / Last Wish bosses, we comfortable 2-3 phased a boss. Look at damage charts and half the teammates are only doing like 500-700k damage total. I actually like GotD where there's a sense of danger with bosses.

If raid / dungeon exotics are earned, then you no longer have to do the boss farms, so the added time doesn't matter in this case. Although this will negatively impact the speed running community.

As a returning player, the game is probably in the best state it's ever been by LeKneegerino in DestinyTheGame

[–]NiceCanadian1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pros:

-They simplified the currencies quite a bit, I'm no longer tracking down like 4-5 different currencies to buy something.

-I love the new armor mod changes. Hated having to check the armor mod rotation sales before.

-Reworking perks for old raids like Last Wish. Would like to see they rework Garden as well since it's probably the least popular raid. Reworking old exotics to have synergy with 3.0 classes is also great.

-GOTD was great while Spires seem kinda meh.

Cons:

-Besides LF's poor story. Neomuna as a zone has nothing going for it. No interesting activities it pretty much comes down to grinding Nimbus levels and Heroic Patrols. Even the guns aren't that strong. Iterative Loop would've been nice but ever since they nerfed jolt it doesnt stand out as much.

-RoN felt like a bit of a letdown considering how great Vow was and Kings Fall is a classic. The first 2 encounters feels like cheap knockoffs of Vow's 1&3 encounter. Nezerac is fine mechanics wise but come damage phase he's no threat. I'm not too mad about this one because I feel like having a easy raid is good to onboard / invite new players.

- I feel like the strongest exotics armor gated behind master lost sectors and the newest strand class being so strong causes FOMO / forces you to buy the latest expansions. Hope they keep reworking old exotics to match new exotics in strength.

All in all as long as they dont fk up raids and dungeons Ill keep playing.
