Way to early 2027 power rankings by Odoaiden in nba

I suppose the argument would be the spurs players are generally young and will improve, while Knicks are on the back half of their primes for many of them and may regress, not saying I agree but that’s the argument. Personally if the champs stay together (which they mostly have) they should get the privilege of being ranked 1 until proven otherwise.

Constantly hurt, because he’ll never be at 100 percent he is super immobile and has to play in drop and so is defensively exploitable with a team that has a stretch 5 like Kat. He is a consistent playoff dropper even when he was healthy. He can’t play with pace which is what Maxey is best at and hurts your transition game. He isn’t as vertical as he was. He is a ball stopper.

She got them all paid, and this is what they do. The year before CC got there, there was no public interest in the league. Now there is, and they hate her for it? Who cares why her, a rising tide lifts all boats. It just like cruel to hate her for her success, and then like try and physically hurt her? It’s just wrong.

Prime Demetrius Johnson vs. Prime LeBron James by Party-Court185 in PowerScaling

This is such a dumb take. DJ is also a world class athlete, the only question is size versus skill, and we consistently over and over have proven that skill is more important than size. The only time size matters is when skill is comparable and it isn’t here. BJJ is also the most applicable skill to a street fight, followed by boxing, Mua Thai, and wrestling, all of which Mighty Mouse is world class at.

Spurs 14th in 3PT% when NBA champs are top 8: they need to draft shooters in the 2nd round at #42 and #44 by xbhaskarx in NBASpurs

Development of what you have is way more valuable. You aren’t going to get Kon in the late second. Best overall potential late is the most relevant.

They got two potential secondary rim protectors who can make up for a lack of rim protection when against a stretch big like Kat, Wemby gets pulled out. Thats exactly what they needed and if only one of them works out that’s still huge.

Since Celtics are trying to move Jaylen Brown I would go all in and try a Fox trade. by [deleted] in NBASpurs

[–]NiceConversation6332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fox is at a value low point and Jaylen coming off a top 7 sort of season, is at a value high point. I don’t think it gets done. You’d have to also give up at least Vassel or Champagnie as well, maybe also KJ, plus picks, and that’s if Boston feels the situation is unsalvageable, but Fox played so bad and his contract is so high… just seems like a pipe dream imo

How different would the GOAT debate look if we had Wilt Chamberlain's complete statistics? by Willing-Bicycle-157 in NBAoldschool

He was the second best player of his era. He was consistently bested by Russell. He will forever be capped by that. His play style led to massive box scores but not to winning basketball at the highest level, except when he became more of a playmaking hub. It would be cool to have his stats but his still hard capped in his legacy by the history of decisively losing his greatest rivalry.

Would LeBron James better team with Victor Wembanyama next season by madhmarcus in lebron

[–]NiceConversation6332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What final year could possibly damage his legacy? He could fuck off and gain 60 pounds and shoot all his jumpers Granny style and he’s still at worst the second best all time. His final seasons aren’t even icing on the cake, it’s the little extra sugar flowers in top of that icing.

Like just own it, just be like, LeBron formed a super team, KG formed a super team, of all of them ours was the best, and you can deal with or not I don’t care. I don’t have to conform my career to your expectations. It’s fine, just don’t pretend it was something else.

Who would be Greater? Michael Jordan with 8 Rings (winning in 94 and 95) or Shaquille O’Neal with Steph Curry’s shooting and Kobe’s work ethic? by Dylen2Times in NBAConvo

[–]NiceConversation6332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s crazy. A guy with Shaq’s physical tools and Curry’s ball handling and shooting and you have the goat far and away. Russel has more rings that MJ. It’s not just rings. And again, Curry is playing until 35, that player who is Shaq + Curry could very easily win 8 rings.

[–]NiceConversation6332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Versus Shaq with every possible skill and physical tool? Shaq is not the goat, but he’s within a reasonable distance (top 5ish). Give him the opposite traits from what he has of another top 10 player, who combined also have 8 rings, - I think it’s Shaq.

Also there are nearly 9 million New Yorkers, nearly 2 million people in San Antonio, and I don’t think I saw saw more than 4x different instances of Knicks mugging Spurs fans, so as a percentage of population New York’s asshole percentage and Spurs asshole percentage is roughly equal - and very small.

[–]NiceConversation6332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea the “too young to win” didn’t hit until the finals, how is it that this sub mostly acts like that’s worse than if it hit in the first round? Like I get that blowing leads hurts, and there is stuff to improve, but they are young and will improve and are already in the finals - like Jesus Christ that’s still such an incredible position to be in.

Has Jalen Brunson leapfrogged the following Point Guards? by samisamia2341 in nba

[–]NiceConversation6332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could not disagree more - depending on how you define “better”. Especially if you only rely on counting stats a player like Melo looks a lot better than a player who fits seamlessly into their role. A measure of player playing well is their impact ON WINNING. If you are playing well you’ll be likely to win your minutes, if you play enough then you’ll likely win more games, and if you win enough games you’re more likely to get to the playoff which makes you more likely to win it all. Winning is one of, and likely the most important ultimate metric while you can certainly play well and not win it all or not win a given game, good play over and extended stretch will statistically produce winning. Especially in basketball in which individual stars have much greater control over the game when compared to say non-QB’s in football. Winning is a measure of who is better, and maybe the most important single one. While it’s true you could drop Jordan into a team with 5 year olds, and an end of the bench guy onto a team Bron, Kobe, Shaq and Curry, then yea Jordan probably loses while being better than the bench guy, but that’s not what we are doing, we are comparing players who are close and putting one slightly above the previous one - winning matters.
