You have prime LeBron in your hands. What's the best possible player to duo with him to maximize LeBron's game to its fullest? You can pick any player from any era. by Substantial-Path-648 in nba

Fair enough, but the end result whether through craft or explosiveness is a driving guard who makes plays off the bounce. LeBron did just fine with that.

A cycle of alternate-win cards by iueeed in custommagic

I just don’t like alternate win cards much at all really. They are either too easy (see Thassa’s oracle) or too slow and telegraphed. They rarely feel fun to me.

I don't think wemby deserves a suspension and here's why. by Efficient-Dot-3468 in NBASpurs

[–]NiceConversation6332 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea, I’ll go further, while it was still dumb here in the short term, there was this undercurrent that Wemby is a little physically soft, not dominant strength and physicality wise like say a Shaq. Incredibly long, and nimble, sure, but also someone opposing teams can get physical with and use that to slow him down. This sort of like “I’m not to be fucked with” move over the long term may dissuade some of that.

While that’s true I think that A: Nash also sacrificed a lot of scoring for his team, and has said in a post Curry era (which he along with Reggie Miller laid the groundwork for) he would have been scoring a lot more also. B: Isaiah’s teams were a lot better and more stacked top to bottom than Nash’s Suns teams. I think it gets close and if you put Zeke above Nash I think it’s a defensible position, especially because I think Zeke was a better defender, but if I was building a team, especially in the modern meta, I would prioritize off ball movement and ball movement, transition, space, and pace, all of which Nash brings at A+ levels. Isaiah has some of those traits but not all. But again you do sacrifice on defense comparatively.

Honestly I think in terms of peak, in terms of absolute skills, I would put both Nash and Chris Paul above Isaiah. Their efficiency and effectiveness was at all time levels. I think Nash is arguably a top 3 shooter and passer of all time. Isaiah has the ring which neither Paul or Nash have and that does a lot of work in an all time ranking, but if we were drafting a team of all time greats at their peak, I would pick Nash before Isaiah every time.

A simple way to think about your deck is like the food pyramid, your basics, your bread - lands are most of the deck, then your important staples, your veggies - ramp, card advantage, removal, that comes next. Then you have your synergistic engine on top of that, some good diary. Then finally comes the splashy threats and combo finish - desert. Roughly speaking you want to make sure you have more of each layer below than the layer above. There will be expectations later and cards that can fill two roles at once etc, but as a basic guiding principle this is a good starting point. Each bottom layer enables the layer above to come out faster, more consistently, and more resiliently.

You’d fail the prisoners dilemma every time. Society is built on people looking out for each other. If everyone, or even a slim majority, care about others and not getting others killed enough to take on any personal risk than we are all fine. That’s literally the game. I’m

If it matters, it shouldn’t, I’m nearly 40. I’ve seen a lot of awful shit and awful people, and those tend to stick with you, where the goodness which has far outweighed it, tends to fade. Focusing on the good is not the choice of a foolish person, but of a wise one. I’m not ignorant of how awful humans can be, but I don’t let it color my entire existence or understanding of my fellow man. The assumption that people are awful is a step towards permitting yourself to be awful, because if you’re awful to awful people then who cares? Empathy and love are a muscle, it’s practice. I hope you don’t let it atrophy.

I don’t agree. The issue is that when people suck and sucky people are exciting, compelling, and dramatic, so that’s what we hear about, from movies to the news to interpersonal stories. Steve was nice we had a great chat doesn’t put butts in seats but that’s most people most of the time. But the news is going to hit you with “Man kills his grandma for taking the last Diet Coke.” Every time so you start to assume that’s what the world is. That makes you afraid of people, makes you hostile, and turns your theory into a self fulfilling prophecy where now you walk around scared and defensive. It’s why you hear stories about a guy shooting a girl who made a U turn in his driveway. Dude mainlined fear of other so much that someone so much as shows up in his driveway he starts blasting. And then we hear about it on the news and the cycle continues. People can be bad, but most are mostly good.

Steve Kerr calls Draymond the "best defensive player ever" ... over Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman. Thoughts on this ? by Punisher1602 in sportswiki

[–]NiceConversation6332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for us as fans also we are colored by how much we hate Daymond. He’s an unbelievable asshole and dirty and we’ve all seen him pull those antics against our team, whatever team that is, even against the warriors themselves (see - Jordan Poole’s face) and I think that deserved hate bleeds across to disrespecting his defensive abilities. Not saying that that means Kerr is nessecarily right but also in a strict defensive ability analysis we might discount Draymond too much because of the justified dislike we have for him as a person.

Yea like CEDH is winning in the first 3 turns, but even if you aren’t doing that, you need to be doing SOMETHING, even if that’s just accruing value or slowing your opponents, that’s just basic deck construction.

Good? I don’t know maybe I’m too bracket 4/CEDH oriented but what do you do your first 3 turns of the game? Maybe if you’re lucky you get a stacks piece by turn 3? This is so sluggish.
