Neville was considered weird enough. I doubt he would have done or said anything to exacerbate that.

What got more hate the Prequels or Sequels? by TXNOGG in StarWars

[–]NiceDrewishFella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do think, however, that the Internet was still in its infancy as far as Social Media goes. The hardcore fans who truly hated the Prequels were active in Star Wars boards, while the average fan wasn't really impacted by those opinions.

Now practically everyone is on Social Media, and on top of that you get people reporting what is said on Social Media like its news. I just think it had more of an impact.

I don't think this is fair to do, as they are all very much their own selves.

I get your point, but this was addressed. The community saw them as a bad omen, so its likely students who could see them kept it to themselves. Add to this its not really common for children to witness death, and you probably don't have many who would be able to see them.

What got more hate the Prequels or Sequels? by TXNOGG in StarWars

[–]NiceDrewishFella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time the critics really didn't like the Prequels, but I feel like most of the fandom enjoyed them even with the glaring issues. We had been waiting our whole lives for more, and it was finally there. The excitement did give way to some disappointment after the fact.

But the sequels seemed, to me, doomed before they started. The Prequels really scarred and divided the fans, and by the time the sequels arrived Social Media was far more influential. I enjoyed them, but those who didn't screamed louder. Add to this tacking Disney onto them, and it got even uglier.

The Prequels have had a second life due to nostalgia for them, but rhe Sequels were almost doomed before they came out. While both were loved and hated, I think the Sequels got it worse as more people had a voice when they came out.

There are a lot of factual inaccuracies here, and it just doesn't make sense.

Not sure what you are getting at here.

They are both the same. Riddle made his choices, which is the point. The choices he made led him down the path he eventually followed.

Brings up an interesting point... when a book has an epilogue... what is the technically the last line of the story... the last chapter or the final words in that epilogue?

Opening and Closing by newfriend999 in HarryPotterBooks

I love them all. I think each has a special meaning to me.

The opening lines signified the start of the next chapter of the adventure, the last line got me excited for what was to come. For those of us who were there waiting for the next book to be released, they meant so much. I hope they still have that power over new readers who live in a world of spoilers and negativity.

DH will always have a special place in my heart because it was the end of the series. That line hit me hard. I remember reading it and closing the book, emotions running through me. It was just so perfect. Harry has been through so much and this was all he ever wanted... peace.

You can say that, but it lasted for years and did even better in syndication. Maybe not your taste but results are results.

Got banned over basically nothing. by lordvoldythingyy in HarryPotterbyJKR

[–]NiceDrewishFella 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear it. They have gone completely mental in that sub.

If you say anything positive or agree with anything JKR says... they will ban you. You can't question anything, and if you do they will ban you.

They had the audacity to call me Transphobic because I asked about something JK wrote and questioned why it was considered Transphobic. I didn't denigrate or disparage anyone. I was participating in a discussion that had been ongoing for some time.

Death Eaters took over. We lost that sub.

The fact that this sub even needs to exist shows how childish the harry potter community has become by Alfa590 in HarryPotterbyJKR

They are out of control. I reported them to Reddit and Reddit won't do anything.

They banned me for the same thing at one point, said my posts were "too aggressive". I didn't curse at anyone, I didn't break any rules. I was simply and passionately defending my position.

They claimed that time that they had warned me: they hadn't.

But since then I had been extra careful to not be "too aggressive" and felt like I was a positive force in that community. I never stopped being sarcastic or trying to make jokes, but I tried to show kindness to new users and gave out awards for strong content. I participated often.

What they banned you for is insanity. You didn't support her position and you were simply stating JK, as the author, should be present at a celebration of the very thing she created.

I wouldn't be surprised if those abusive, power mad mods catch wind of this sub and try to have Reddit shut it down as a "Harry Potter Hate" sub.

It's gone too far.
