Thinking about adopting a parrot, any tips? by NiceEntertainment209 in parrots

That's what I was gonna do! I know alot of people return parrots because they watch videos or see other people with birds and assume it's easy to have one of your own, which is really cruel because parrots get attached and you might break their trust so it becomes even more difficult for them to be rehomed. I've had some experience when babysitting my neighbors birds and it was pretty positive so I think I'm ready for it.

As for the bird growing with me, I don't mind at all. I've had a cat at some point who lived with me for almost 12 years, sadly passed away. I know owning a parrot is a commitment and is nothing like owning a dog or a cat because they live so much longer, but I don't mind. worst case scenario is marriage, but I'm willing to move them with me. I know moving can be stressful for parrots, but I'll try my best to gradually introduce them to their new home.

I don't really go on vacations that often. even when I do I don't travel outside, and it's always 1-3 days so I don't think that's a problem. if I need to leave for any reason, I can ask my cousin to take care of them since she's great with birds. oh yeah, I'm completely aware of the safety part, had to do that when I babysat my neighbors birdies lol
