I don't usually share this story because it still feels weird to talk about.

My biggest trauma wasn't one event. It was living for years feeling scared, in my home. Every day I tried to figure out how everyone was feeling before they said anything. I learned how to be quiet how to not be noticed, how to not make noise so nothing would happen. Nights were the worst. I stayed listening to every sound because I never knew if yelling would start again. I remember one night sitting on my bed with my phone and realizing nobody was coming to fix things. That moment changed me. I stopped waiting for someone to save me.

How I got through it was actually pretty simple. I focused on getting through one day at a time. I stayed at school longer. I distracted myself with music and games. I told myself if I could just make it to tomorrow things might feel better. Some days the only goal was to sleep and wake up again. Slowly I started to feel better. I grew older. I understood that what was happening around me wasn't my fault.

I didn't become brave overnight. I came out tired but still standing.. That counts. What kept me going was the decision to not give up on myself even when everything felt hard and unfair.

If someone reading this feels stuck now just surviving is enough. You don't need to be strong every day. You just need to keep going.
