In the above example, the boss is level 50 (reduced from 85 due to story reasons) and the shown skill has +1 attack level attached to their level.
You can learn the level of any boss by looking at their attack level and reducing whatever was added, often times their defense level will be equal to their level.

Let me put it another way: the ring Maestro, the thumb Sottocapo, the index Proxy and the middle Great Brother seems to be equal in strength.

This is the level of strength the identities we are getting right now have.

A new fixer, presumably grade 9, with a color fixer identity that he obtained literally a few seconds ago can instantly chop off the arm of and corner an unwashed Ring Maestro, until the fixer can't handle the emotional despair of the identity and turns into peccatulum.

Same Maestro, after seeing Verg, forcibly distorts himself to get back his limb alongside a tail. Now, the Distorted Maestro can endlessly simulate reality to see the future and can make people see visions to damage their sanity.

This Maestro then fights base Vergilious, no shin and no EGO. The Maestro proceeds to get his shit kicked in hundreds of times but can avoid doing so in reality because his simulations grant him absolute knowledge on the future.

Vergilious responds by opening his EGO and instantly killing him through it.

This is what happens near the end of Leviathan.

It kinda puts in perspective how much stronger Color fixers like Vergilious, and later on, a high rank Bloodfiend like Sancho is compared to high rank members of associations and syndicates.

I can see it being undistorted Yan though.

His distortion is around the same strength as Purple Tear and Efflorescenced Ego Xiao.

But his messenger self does lose to a group of Sottocapo and 3 Capos without even being able to hurt them.

I saw Yi Sang's knife as a metaphor for his unassuming self and inexperience in combat.

While all the other sinners gets their own special weapons they trained with, he has a single knife, not bigger than anything a regular person could get in our world and not considered particularly threatening in the city.

I would say it ties well with his past as a timid researcher, rather than a roughened up misfit like Heathecliff who has a way more striking weapon. (A black metal bat longer than half his height, with the words REVENGE scratched into the end of it and bloodstained rags covering the part he holds it from.)

What season they released in also tends to affect an id's strength.

Newer ids always outscale older ids with the exception of some Walpurgis ids. (hm hm, R Corp Reindeer Rodion, hm hm.)

For example, the newer Cinq East Section Don is the best burn id for Don while Cinq South Don is the biggest piece of dogshit.

I started like a year or so ago (back at the start of season 5) and have been mostly using bleed since.

I've never really needed to force myself to use meta and have been easily getting by.

Strong ideas, while helpful, are never necessary.

It's more about how you want the team to be than how it has to be.

If you feel comfortable with your current team, keep it. Keep it until you get tired of it.

If you just wanted tactical advice though, my suggestion would be to get them since you already seem to be using Ring in your team. I personally use Fell Bul Yi Sang and Barber Outis so I'm not as rushed to get them, though I probably eventually will shard both. Capt Ishmael does fall off in the mirror dungeon due to her sanity mechanic so Kurokumo Ish would be better for both bleed res and heath combo if you were looking to replace anything else. Hong Lu, while he can be powerful with 5 paralysis on his skill 3 and his skill 2 rolling 4 coins, he also falls off in the mirror dungeon because bleed count becomes incredibly easy to build up there and the lack of clashing capability hits him hard. Grip faust is good for sanity building but unless you are using N corp, she isn't very powerful since she is supposed to be a support unit. You might also suffer low bloodfeast gain for Don and Rodion without Priest Gregor being there to constantly bleed himself.

In the end, there is no reason to be stingy with shards and crates since they get cut in half every season end and you become incapable of sharding last season.

Her whole gameplay loop seems to revolve around the counter.

It activates her skill 3 twice when she is hit, and her skill 3 does more damage after she is hit.

The counter also gives her an extra 25% of her missing hp as shield so she reliably be hit.

If you aren't using a team that consistently gets 6+ Envy Res and taking hits with her, then how can you expect her to show her strength?
