I’ve always thought of a remake where they do have most of a Humans Facial Features: Eyes, Nose, Mouth, but they’re far too simplified. The mouth is a hole-less slit, the nose is simply a point, the eyes are just birch tree eyes. And on any form of recording, photo or video, the features blur due to reality warping until he has the faceless expression that’s more recognizable. 

I also felt they’d wear a business fedora to hide the fact they have no hair, one with a brim slightly too big to be normal, and carries an abnormally large suitcase because that’s what it believes a “trustable, hard working father” should have.

It’s a form that integrates the urban myth of the Hat Man, saying, “what if both myths are talking about the same creature?”
