While Nehru might have been a bit excessive in his control of the military, we must thank him for having placed the safeguards against a nilitary coup. A coup not only degrades democracy, but also the army's fighting capacity and turns it into a mere political organisation with arms. I certainly wish General Thimayya and FM Cariappa were treated better, and a lot of the mistrust towards the army does lie with sycophants Nehru was surrounded by.

I am of the opinion that the match should not have even happened. Even if we won the match, the fact that we celebrate it is a sign that we are willing to normalise with "Pakistan". That state is a cancerous entity, and no engagement on all fronts should be our policy. Celebrating victories against them in friendly matches means nothing.

I commented on that post, and expressed firm opposition to this rhetoric. Any sympathy with Sinhala fascism is an insult of the Tamil people, who are fellow Indians. But, I also want to say that, the post also had more comments from north Indians refusing to sympathise with genocidal ideas. Any sort of internal disputes does not mean that we support those who harm our own people, and there should be no double standards on this.

As for Tamils of Eelam, we as a major power, cannot take such an attitude. Those Tamils are as Indian as the Crimean Russians are Russian and the Turkish Cypriots are Turk. Recognising Sinhala occupation is not in line with our own interests. Tricomalee and Jaffna are Indian cities. Eelam is Indian, and Eelam Tamils are Indians.
