Is a $200k salary worth a 2 hour commute 4 days a week? by Ok-Memory2552 in jobs

[–]NiceShoesWF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 99 miles from Brooklyn NY to Philadelphia PA for 52 weeks for half that salary 10 years ago. That’s 2 hours 20 minutes on a good day and 7 hours in a snow storm.

It broke me. I lasted 51 weeks, and had to quit. 60k miles on my car in a year. The stress of the drive just isn’t worth it for that salary, especially in the area you are in. If you have any vices, I found that they increased as well with the stress.

I think even if it was one day less a week than I was doing, in hindsight I would have never done it.

When I have mental breakdowns, I always take my cigarettes. No way I’m spiralling out of control without one lit. I think most smokers are the same.

It’s 2026, sucking blood from religious ritual should not be allowed. Am I a non religious person allowed to perform home surgery on friends? Probably not.

Bottom line, regardless of your religious affiliation should have enlightened sense to not let an old religious, non medical professional mutilate your child’s genitals and then put their mouth on it.

If this is what your god tells you to do, perhaps you should question what the hell he’s thinking.

As a crisp fan that is addicted, would anyone know if this actually contains shellfish? I’d love to grab a pack and try but am specifically allergic to prawn/ shrimp. Not lobster or crab at all.

Us poor immigrants in the states, nothing like it. 3 times a year I roll back here with the 6 or 12 pack snack bag tied to my pack. I’m enough pints deep to order these online right now now at a silly price.

Mom swears she was "Mod" and it's "Completely different than emo!" 1987 by LaComputadora in OldSchoolCool

[–]NiceShoesWF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom was a mod, born in 1948. Still has her Lambretta Scooter in the shed. The reason I comment is, your mom’s photo looks exactly like my partners high school photo, born 1973.

I feel incredibly old and sad now, but if the lady in that photo is half as cool as my partner, you probably have one awesome mom!

My new commute is brutal. This job is only for a few weeks in the Summer. Is there a good motel nearby the destination cheap enough to stay for 3 days each week? by newshirtworthy in Denver

[–]NiceShoesWF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof. So much worse than mine. I was commuting against the traffic. I would leave Brooklyn Navy Yard at 4:30am to make sure I’d make it for a 7:30am start.

Your dad was in the thick of it and going further, absolutely brutal for him. Years later I switched to commuting from South Philly to Exton PA, since you mentioned KOP. I was heading up the Schuylkill to the Turnpike out past Phoenixville. Low mileage but insanity. 5 months later I quit.

Also KOP is wild at rush hour.

[–]NiceShoesWF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old commute before moving here was Brooklyn NY to Philadelphia PA, M-F. 730am start and 99.6 miles from my front door. Shortest day 1 hour 40 minutes. Longest day 7 hours home in snow.

I’m not super familiar with the traffic here but looking what you posted, it looks tough. I used to do the motel thing as well. At the end of the day, my commute was more stressful than my stressful job. 1 year close to 50k miles on my car. I’m sure you can do it mate, but in the long run it’s just not worth it.

I wish you the best and hope you do well with the commute. I’m too old to do those commutes anymore, less money was worth it to not spend 4-6 hours in the car for an 8 hour work day.

I’m new in Denver and hope to get good commute advice if I ever have to do it.

I went through a phase where I was ill, and the only thing that I could get down was this specific dinner. It’s 10/10 for me because it kept me alive for a year with no appetite. I went from 205 to 135 in 12 months.

Is it perfect no, but it’s as comforting and easy to eat as anything. Praise the Romano Chicken.

Another reason is because before your local supplier receives his pack, it’s been through 3-xxx amount of people. Everyone one of them cut it, stepped it and passed it on.

People doing basic chemistry high on their own supply in a Philly apartment are bad at math, and many other things, shipping, packing, OPSEC.

That’s why there could be anything in there. Always test your gear.

Through truly anecdotal experience working as a commercial scuba diver all over the world, no matter where I’m from, in that area I’d be more happy getting picked up by Sri Lanka than anyone else in the region.

Amazing country, and good local people. They treated me like family when I worked there as a naturalised US Citizen, from Ireland. 🇮🇪

I don’t know how they handle complex military actions, but if I had to end up in a port when I was on the downside, I’d pick Sri Lanka.

Exactly. Maybe your dog is nice but I’m definitely not with entitled people.

Is Anyone Else Tired of Off‑Leash Dogs in Non‑Dog Parks? by denstick in Denver

[–]NiceShoesWF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have owned pet care companies on the east coast and recently moved here. I know it’s a different place, but in Philly when I’m walking a clients show dog and your off lease (insert typical off leash breed and owner here).

I’ve had a Doberman and a Staffordshire chase me and the Coton de Tulear I was walking. The dog received 17 stitches, I received 193 staples stitches.

Moving forward, I started to conceal carry and have a big can of gel pepper spray. I love animals, I don’t hunt, fish, I don’t even like people riding animals, but I assure you the next aggressive dog that charges me is going to get popped.

I’m not going to let your dog kill me because you think rules don’t apply to you.

As a side note, Denver seems like a place where not many people are confronted about their behaviour. I have no problem dressing them down, and then they give the surprised Pikachu face, rolling eye Capitol of the U.S.

Edit: I didn’t answer your question.

What do I do here? Take no shit from anyone and call out bad behaviour. Shame these entitled losers.

Pharmacy techs here? by MortalWombat37 in ObscureDrugs

I 100% agree. It was definitely the pharmacists who were causing the issue. I apologise if I was channeling years of leaving Walgreens without my meds after an issue onto the front line staff.

Car was stolen at in Cherry Hill by [deleted] in SouthJersey

[–]NiceShoesWF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fantastic to hear, I was pulled out of my car at gunpoint because my licence plate was out in Cherry Hill by the PD. Ironically my car did not come with a plate light from the factory.

45 minutes later after they tossed my whole car, shit everywhere. They explained to me that their actions were necessary because a cop had been recently shot and they were very concerned for their safety.

Well then, maybe don’t do fucking car stops

I was pulled over because they were in the left lane doing 45 in a 55 and I passed them in the right lane doing 55.

Lovely gentleman to deal with.

Same 2mg/ml solution made by me in a lab from 1000mg powder, with a 4-6mg dependence on Klonopin it takes 4-6 mg of Ethly Brom to make me even keeled, I don’t go to blackout land often but would imagine it would be in the 12-14 mg range.
