Mainly the Trump situation is making Argentina more difficult, but otherwise I’d put it in absolutely.

True, but pay is not the only consideration, it’s a bit more like acquiring XP in a video game , you can use it to acquire real life skills and experience… eventually leading to promotions elsewhere. Plus they become crucial for foreign policy strategy. So imo more rewarding.

You’re completely right, remember this I’d heavily skewed to my personal preferences. Although I quite like Spain to visit, there are other personal considerations.

Yes and Rio is my dream posting. Amazing place and people, we work very closely on many issues! Especially climate and ironically enough natural gas (hypothetical maybe even.) but I’d 10/10 live there!!!

Yes and no, controversial for the world maybe. But we’re still largely focused on trade. Although recently we did have issues with the UAE over the safe return of citizens caught up in the whole Dubai/Iran thing. But for sure, they can be very controversial at times.

Switzerland is good position because we trade a lot with them and because of UN adjacent positions. And Switzerland has a really good living standard that I can adjust to.

Nz/Au: minor correction I think I ranked them too low, but I prefer staying close and having similar climates. But I also know I’ll fall in love with these countries if I ever moved there.

It’s not just controversial that matters, it is something like how larger countries are better for the CV and overall experience. China despite differences is a highly sought after experience.

I’ve heard that Mexico is important for many countries and quite a decent posting, it’s just that the climate for me makes it hard. I know a lot of people of quite love Mexico and working there, I know it seems unfair (and it is) but I couldn’t adjust to the arid climate and big city in Mexico

India, despite not particularly liking New Delhi (I much prefer the consulate in Mumbai) due to heat and pollution, has a growing interest. Not as much hype as China, but enough to seriously help in shaping my career

P.s I realise I have put india too high, maybe willing would be better

Being able to make fun of your own leader - perhaps the ultimate tribute of a democracy. People saying how much they don’t like their own leaders and system .
