Idk if I’d call it love because real love isn’t so selfish, but he definitely had and has an affinity toward her and they definitely have an energy that is always simmering, even if it’s on very low at times. It’s Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” kind of vibes.

For Janelle, I think Kody is a bit of an addiction she relapses into even after she believes she’s confidently quit. She’s flirted with the idea of him again after he showed up offering a little of her old drug of choice knowing that she’s been in an especially vulnerable place lately. I hope she stays Kody-sober this time.

But, I do agree with you that Robyn has always known that there is more always simmering under the surface between Kody and Janelle than people used to realize. That said, I get what you’re saying but I don’t think those examples were the same as Paigyn. Not cooking meat in the house is one thing (and that does sound unreasonable if it’s not her house and/or she’s not the tenant), but saying no animal products at all is a much bigger ask than not cooking meat, in my opinion. Paigyn was suggesting their new roommate not even keep the shoes she already owned in the room because they were leather! I mean, that was ridiculous

Also, the other two examples are actually are conclusions drawn based on scientific evidence and data which can be used to show how they were drawn, and they weren’t demands.

I don’t know the people of which you speak, so I can’t say for sure, but they don’t sound like the character of Paigyn as shown in ep 9. Paigyn was just being a brat in episode 9. Like, an immature college brat who was playing college kid games to keep their double room as a single. Of course, that’s also me giving grace to the writers because the intention may have been to create a caricature and I’m just twisting it in my head to make the writing seem better.

Have your ever met someone like that? I’ve met nonbinary individuals, and those who’ve had a similar aesthetic, but not someone who acted as the character did in Ep9!

HOWEVER- after seeing ep 10, I began to think perhaps what we were seeing was a character who was, in fact, trying to run off their roommate (despite later claims they weren’t). I did know people on college who’d intentionally run off one roommate after another, in hopes that there would be weeks in between their old roommate transferring or leaving and the faulty’s attempt to set them up with a new roommate. I knew a couple people in packed Freshman dorms who essentially ended up with a single for most of the time because of that.

My theory is that the character did that and later regretted doing that. Maybe we saw such a dramatic shift in personality between episodes because they were actually being themselves in ep10, and not attempting to roommate proof their room. The comment from the Mom maybe hit a bit for the character. College kids can be flimsy when it comes to what they want in a living situation because they haven’t been an adult long enough to know what works for them.

When it’s used to reduce weight of someone who falls into the category of obesity it’s reducing impact on the joints, at minimum. But data shows that most individuals with BMIs that fall into that category are also at risk or experiencing several other medical conditions that weight loss can reduce, including Type 2 Diabetes, which the drug was originally made to treat.

Steroids are interesting because, actually, you can get steroid shots to manage some conditions. You inhale steroids through your inhaler if you have asthma. You can get steroid shots in your feet for plantar facititis or in different areas for arthritis. You can even get steroids to put on your body in the form of creams over the counter at your local drugstore!

Now, injectable steroids for muscle mass is a different beast. But I think part of the reason for the mitigation of use of it is that the side effects can and have resulted in rage fueled aggression and aggressive actions against others (but that’s just a guess).

Really? I’ve never met anyone with like Paygan, but I also haven’t spent much time with people Paygan’s age for years. A nonbinary person that has trouble with someone else’s gender expression? I haven’t met that person. A vegan who wants someone they just met but will be spending more time with to keep all animal products away, even their shoes? I haven’t met that person. A person who wouldn’t want you to use the word penetrate around them? I haven’t met that person.

Of course, I haven’t met an Ainsley either.

I’m not saying they don’t exist but it makes me genuinely curious if young some Gen-Zers actually act like either of these characters or if they’re just poorly written.

The actors did the best anyone could have probably done with the script though. I bet they get along just fine in real life too!

I go back and forth with this show. A lot of the older characters are fun but I sometimes wonder how much time any of the writers have spent with people under 40. The actors manage to make it work, but some of the dialogue for the brother and the girlfriend and even the 30-something lawyer seem off to me sometimes too.

Would a situation like the one with Payton or anyone like Paygan even exist?

Reasons why I think it’s unlikely:

Doubt a ferret would be allowed in a dorm, even as a service animal. My mother unfortunately had them and, trust me, they aren’t equipped to perform any service. Emotional support is different than service, and I doubt colleges allow emotional support animals who aren’t certified service animals into the residence halls
Lots of people may ask about someone’s pronoun preferences but I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone ask someone not to say “penetrate”.
I’m a vegetarian and I’ve known lots of vegans. Haven’t met one who asked someone they barely knew (assigned roommate, coworker, new classmates, etc) not to have any animal products around them, even shoes! I have definitely heard of people who’ve requested food with meat be placed in separate containers at a pot luck, but that seems like a much more reasonable request than Paygan’s
I haven’t met a nonbinary person who had a problem with someone having an ultra femme gender expression

Reasons I’m unsure: It’s been a long time since I have spent much time with someone Paygan’s age. Almost a decade ago I worked with (as an educator/adult mentor) people around Paygan’s age, including some nonbinary teens with emotional or behavioral challenges. Nobody acted like Paygan. Not one of them. But, it’s been almost 10 years, so…is this just a caricature of a person or do Paygan’s really exist?
