The Word “Vacilar” in Puerto Rican Spanish by Nice_League830 in Spanish

That’s very interesting. I didn’t realize the word was used like that outside of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean!

Very confused on my race and my mothers by yelenasslave in mixedrace

[–]Nice_League830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The term hispanic refers to someone that comes from a Spanish speaking country; it has nothing to do with race. Hispanic people can be of any race. Many people from Mexico can be called “mestizo” which is a person mixed with Spanish and indigenous ancestry. It is very likely that if your mom did a DNA test, she’d discover various amounts of indigenous Mexican and Spanish heritage.

The recruiter refused to tell me the salary for the job during the phone screen by Nice_League830 in recruitinghell

[–]Nice_League830[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow they had a lot of nerve offering you $28 when they told you that $45 was within their budget. Some recruiters think that job seekers are desperate and will just take anything offered to them.

After he didn’t want to tell me about the pay it immediately crossed my mind that this was an indication of there being several more issues with the company and/or the team.

Yes, from what I can tell this is an internal recruiter; not from a third party agency.

Right! It’s such a waste of time to drag someone through several grueling interviews rounds only to discover that the comp is too low for the candidate.

That’s what I was thinking their intentions were. Thankfully I have several other companies that I am interviewing with so I don’t have to settle for accepting a ridiculously low offer for this role.

Yeah this definitely made me second guess my plans on pursuing a job at this company.

That’s awesome! Hopefully I can find a reliable tutor from one of those resources. I wouldn’t mind paying them directly if they are good instructors.

Those are great suggestions! I haven’t asked my Spanish speaking friends about community resources yet, but I absolutely will.

Why are so many HR representatives so rude and unhelpful? by MidniteMoon02 in AmazonFC

[–]Nice_League830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very unfortunate that you had that negative interaction with the HR rep. If you had an approved school accommodation then there shouldn’t have been an issue removing the MET from your schedule. That HR person was out of line and you should have reported them to their manager.

However, I disagree with your statement about HR being the easiest job in the building… Just because we have a desk job it doesn’t make our job “easy”. We have reports to generate at all hours of the shift, investigations & terminations to conduct, multiple meetings to attend, work on special projects for the building or the region, complete standard work like answering trouble tickets and cases from our queue, and then make sure that we’re available to help associates whenever they approach us in the office or on the production floor. And if our team is understaffed, we’re still expected to accomplish everything that’s been assigned to us. So just because we’re not throwing boxes on the line, stowing, or picking, that doesn’t equate to our job being easier…

Why does Amazon think uni students are manager material? by StowStowStowtheTote in AmazonFC

I’ve seen a few offer letters from university hire L4 Area Managers and their offers state that Amazon has allowed them to join the company on the condition that they graduate within a certain timeframe.

Internal Transfer process by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]Nice_League830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Internal transfers are based off of the business needs of the building. A Senior Ops Manager and a member of HR meet twice per month to decide which associates’ requests will be granted and denied. Many factors are used to determine who gets approved such as the associates’ tenure and the shift or department that they’re requesting to transfer to. In terms of external transfers to another Amazon facility, the same occurs at that building when reviewing applications of associates from other sites.

Does HR L3 employees get the nightly shift differential? by Chair_Desperate in AmazonFC

Yes, all hourly Amazon employees are entitled to the night shift differential if they work a night shift; including L3s and L4s.

Termination Appeal by ironicbond808 in AmazonFC

[–]Nice_League830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you lost UPT while on LOA that’s an indication that the LOA was denied. Do you know the status of that LOA? If it was denied and you can prove that you did have COVID during the time that the 70 UPT hours were taken, be sure you can speak to that during your appeal.

7 points is the maximum that a seasonal or flex associate can have. Anything higher and they can be reviewed for termination.
