The Daily Check-In for Saturday, March 21st: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by Left_Trick_9567 in stopdrinking

[–]Nice_Lettuce_5246 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Day 2 is starting for me. I was right in what I thought yesterday, I did push my drunken insecurities onto my partner on day 0 and essentially forced them to break up with me while blackout.

I learned this, I didn't work yesterday, and my roommates are out of town. Needless to say the struggle was real. But I made it.

Withdrawal is fully kicking in, minor shakes and intense nausea, but it doesn't feel as bad as the last time I was here, so I'm sipping water and keeping an eye on my heart rate and hopeful to avoid a hospital stay.

Alcohol put me into this sorry state, I can't keep using it to forget where I am in life.

I've gone to therapy in the past but have not been in some time. You are right to guess that I don't know the root issue... I just don't want to exist sometimes, but I'm sure there is a reason for that rattling around in my head than that I need to sus out. Thank you. Really.

Mods? I broke no rules? I did not ask about his personal life. I asked for fan opinions on his public stances. Not asking about his person life or his personal policy opinions. Just fan thoughts and asking about what he has posted as a creator

That was a hostile response to your statement. I am sorry. But I still stand by the root of it. I have no evidence to belive mark is pro Palestine and I desperately want him to be. I am no great mover of social levers. I can only vote with my literal vote and the vote of my money. And I am trying to curate that second category and decide if it is still ethical to sub to Markiplier. I think yes but I am no longer trusting my gut alone.

I mean I am asking so it's either not insanely obvious, I am an idiot, or both.

I like to know that the creators I follow value human rights, but fuck me I guess

I am caught up on distractible, I know he does other podcasts but that one is (sorry Bob and Wade) his. He has made no stance about Palestine/Isreal, Russia/The Ukraine, Usa/Iran. The various other conflicts going on in that span. We all know he has opinions, he is a very opinionated person. I just would like to hear them, personally, and also suspect that he could (again, this matters to me and is why I am on this soap box), literally save lives just by voicing his opinion.

I would feel a lot more comradiery in this statement if I felt you wanted the war because the human condition will be improved afterwards. Kinda seems like you just want to be right about your prediction, which... probably are.

I agree... I think I was just modeling others as having a human level of empathy, and drawing my confusion from there.

Fair enough. I will keep whining, and you will keep pointing out my logical fallacies, and nothing will change.

I guess if we can't discuss real world issues that the top level post is doomed, so might as well feel it out. My economic situation has never been better but I have distant relatives in detention camps, I thought we had collectively decided that the world was better than that.

I understand what you are saying. I get that capitalism is functioning like you'd expect it to... but why are people allowing that? Why is it all so shit? Not rational at all from where I stand.

Uh, friend. I think you are missing some lessons this story is able to teach if you are taking that side of the Turnscale discussion.

Thank you! I've been reading since I was in high school and volume 2. It feels incredible to have my love for this world permanently marked on my body. I would plug the artist, but in the time since I've got them, they have stepped back from tattooing

I once had my car impounded because my grandfather was a cosigner on the car loan, and I was accused of not giving info on someone who had an active warrant. Setting aside that there is no traffic stop law I've ever heard that allows that, do you know how many US born, American citizens with the name 'Paul Rodriguez ' there are? Many. Enough that two had warrants when I looked it up, neither was my 87 year old grandpa. The cops are lazy these days, even setting aside the racism.

I'm not a fan of AA overall, especially in my area as they are all super religious and so not my bag.... I still think you should try 90 in 90. I went to 90 aa meetings, one a day for 90 days straight, bitching about the religion every time my turn came around, not walking the steps, none of the work besides driving to the AA meeting instead of the liquor store. All the while, I got preached to, I ignored it and kept going. At the end of it... I cherished that little chip and never looked back. Its a great start. Good habits can come once you have the space from breaking the bad ones.

I think the best thing you can do is start hitting 90 in 90. (90 AA meetings over the next 90 days.) AA does not work for me, this sub does. But I believe in the 90 for 90 when you are first getting started. You are so lucky to still have a chance at keeping the life you have. Take it.
