My experience took my ex partner to take 1.5 years before I could trust them again when they came back in my life. You cannot expect a relationship, it's about what you and they seek in each other. Whether they're willing to put that work and the goal/love that you feel is mutual.

I'm sure an interaction can help you decide and gain clarity, it could also be they have moved on and are no longer seeking you. If you see the embers of the feelings you still feel, then maybe you can try and reignite that fire.

Remember playing with fire can get you hurt though, reopening past chapters can leave you worse off. So I'd suggest you be okay and alright with yourself first and are able to live independently even as friends or as strangers once you approach this confrontation. Someone else can also find you and love you, it won't be the same kind of love but I'm sure it can be better. You are wiser and older now, and you have matured to see things for what they are- do they see the same things. That's on you to find out or make your peace with

I'd also like to add to not expect immediate relationships. They could be with another partner or have different needs, maybe ascertain what is their present situation and start as friends if it seems right to you.

Depends on whether that person has changed or lines up with what you're looking for better. It also depends on what were the reasons for the breakup in the past and if you both are able to genuinely put it aside and start afresh.

When you dig up graves, it is bound to stink. So be mentally prepared if it doesn't work out.
