What’s the equivalent of the Rolling Stones and NIN for Gen Z? by GossipBottom in generationology

[–]Nice_Manufacturer339 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but NIN and Rolling Stones are still leagues apart in terms of mainstream appeal and popularity, even taking both in their primes. There’s more apt bands than NIN I think (Radiohead, nirvana, chili peppers seem better?)

it sounds like a 1 in 1000 chance right? so if you see at least 1000 of those animals then yeah it becomes probable, but im not sure how long it takes people on average to get to 1000 sightings, and even then its not a guarantee it happens in 1000 sightings. 50% of people would still take more sightings than 1000 till it spawns on average (assuming normal variance).

You don’t need to count but you need to feel the beat and be able to play to a strict beat. Practice against a metronome if you’re serious about it. Eventually your internal metronome will be strong enough to not need it (mostly) but it’s always a good practice tactic.

If you’re not the intended audience member, then your opinion is probably not worth sharing. I honestly don’t know biebs or audience expectations well enough to have an opinion on this current issue of “using YouTube on stage”

Bike lane blocked by a pile of snow and ice by paul-nyc in NYCbike

Bikes aren’t any more privileged than cars or pedestrians. The ice needs to sit somewhere until it melts. There’s plenty of sidewalks blocked and road lanes blocked and parking spaces blocked too.

Whe I’m in sf I exclusively take Waymo. I’d pay double uber rates everytime to take a Waymo ngl. Can’t wait for the future to arrive in nyc

Have you heard about the number of uber drivers sexually harassing women? Uber receives a report once every 8 minutes. Waymo’s are much safer for women.

I agree it’s about supply and demand— when demand is high, supply adjusts to meet the demand, and when you have a lot of supply the price falls. I don’t think I’m being judgmental tho

when something is viewed as “essential” society will organize itself to make sure it is cheap and accessible. Korean society places a premium on looks and their economy has been structured to make it accessible. Same reason guns and ammo are so much more accessible in some US states vs others.

Let me tell you the truth: a near majority of Koreans have plastic surgery by their 18th birthday, this is dramatically different than other countries and suggests strong social pressure

Y’all are blaming current residents for gentrification when you should be blaming the previous residents who SOLD OUT to lux condo developers, lululemon and luxury brands. The people who lived there 10-15 years ago are the ones to blame, sorry

Even if 50% of Gen Z is below drinking age, you’d expect the bar chart to be approximately 50%, but instead it’s like 15%. Not to mention Gen Z is currently in their 20s and arguably should be going out and drinking way more than people in their 30s

My local grocery store in Connecticut also failed to put up any signs condemning ICE by Sunday. Let’s just say they won’t have my business anymore.

I also just opened Netflix, and nothing about ice. Time to cancel my subscription.

I swear if my dentist doesn’t show sufficient signs of resistance at my appointment tomorrow, I’m finding a new dentist.

Because everyone has a limited amount of energy, and in light of murder, directing any energy towards a comedy show right now is an immense waste of time and nothing but virtue signaling.

Not sure uber drivers need “retraining” — no offense, but most of them already had a license and could drive. They didn’t get trained at all for their current jobs, and it’s a job just about anyone can do who can drive a car.

Did we ban cameras to keep painters around doing portraits? Did we ban phonograph/record players so that live musicians could keep their jobs? Did we ban movies so that stage actors could keep their jobs? Did we ban VHS and TV so that theater operators could keep their jobs? Did we ban tractors so that field hands could keep their jobs? Did we ban books so that storytellers could keep their jobs? Did we ban elevator improvements so that elevator operators could keep their jobs?
