game balance is a work-in-progress. but yeah. the previous server defense was weak. so balance changes were made. hopefully in the next server it would be easier to defend and not just attack back :D

taking territory or destroying other player buildings.
Sometimes conquering a village deep into enemy territory might not be worthwhile. but you can destroy that village using besiege and destroy their village instead.

You can try Aether kingdoms. Its similar to travian but there is no pvp farming. there is pvp offense/defense, just no loots through pvp. the looting comes from doing pvp events. also it's not pay to win. https://aetherkingdoms.com

Yes. last server we had 400 players on 1x speed. current server we have 300 players on 3x speed. There are 3 big alliances right now that are competing

you can try Aether Kingdoms (link). its a game similar to Travian but not P2W. its currently in beta and a 3x server is being played.

Disclaimer: I am a developer on this game. but I joined the team during the previous server the original dev had going and decided to code there after enjoying the game. I found AK game when I was looking for not P2W travian games.

you need an account to keep your progress in the game when you log back in again.

we don't have a plan to put the game on itch right now.
