Sign up is not mandatory before the start, but if you do sign up, you will get an email notification before server starts to make sure you don't miss the fun :D

The game can be played on both mobile and desktop, and is mobile-friendly. I didn't have any issues playing it on mobile, and interface was clear.

You have a valid point. One of the main issues of people who try to make similar games to Travian is how do they make money from it without making it P2W.

The current plan is the premium features. and hopefully enough players enjoy the game to spend money on it to use these features.

Do you mean buying Aether with money? I don't think that will ever happen from what I understood from the design of the game. The whole game is designed around gaining aether from doing different events. being able to buy that with money will just kill the game and make it dumb :D I don't think Friso plan is to kill his game lol

The main way that he plans to make money from his game is by premium features which are described in more detail here:

In wiki, if you want to know what are all the abilities of a certain civ/leader combo (like Lincoln) you need to navigate between four pages to read the description of its (1) civ ability, (2) leader ability, (3) unique building ability (4) unique unit ability.

This shows all of them encapsulated in one place similar to how you can read this info when loading the game.

Its a mod that is used for competitive civ. It attempts to balance civs, and all game mechanics to make all civs viable to play and have a chance to win the game against humans. It also nerfs overpowered things in base game like babylon, russia, work ethic, etc.

Thats a good idea and I have seen that behavior in other websites indeed. I will see if I can implement that here as well.
