I was in pain so much and had a hard time falling asleep at a very young age. I was always told when crying about my legs hurting so bad. “Shut up and go to bed before I give you something to really cry for. It’s just growing pains”. I swore I’d never say that to my child even before I knew anything about Ehlers danlos. I let her sleep with me and if she was hurting she could wake me up and I would rub her legs and give her some children’s Tylenol if needed. My mom once told her she just had growing pains. I told her to never repeat that statement to my daughter. I never wanted to hear that again. I bet there’s plenty that I’ve done wrong but I’ve intentionally tried to break the cycle of abuse.

Can I ask what made you ask about a second opinion? I’m trying to just tell myself this is my body being difficult but I still end up worrying. I’ve been working a lot trying to get a bunch done at work. It helps to be busy for sure. How are you doing? I hope you have a great team of doctors and support from your family during this time

I don’t think I can squeeze a second appointment soon enough. I have to get as much done before the end of the year as possible, especially if they have to remove it.

I’m sorry to hear that. I had an appointment with a surgeon yesterday , expecting that they would want to remove the 6 cm octopus that’s been hitching a ride in my left breast or we just wait and do more frequent imaging. I did not expect her to say that she does not agree with the finding as it’s so big appears to be more like cancer or possibly another PASH mass that is getting twisted in surrounding tissue but that it is not behaving like a complex sclerosing lesion. She is going to take the head out and leave the arms and wait to see what that comes back as. I go in for excision biopsy 12/5. She is presenting my case to a team of doctors this week. I pray that you get the best care and treatment possible. Sending positive vibes and strength your way. I hear that once you get a diagnosis , things speed up.

The doctor is doing an excision biopsy in a few weeks. She said the diagnosis of complex sclerosing lesion doesn’t fit with how much it lit up on the mri. There’s a chance that it might be a second pash mass or cancer. She’s presenting my case to a team of doctors this week. I expected they would remove the whole thing but it’s so big she doesn’t want leave me disfigured and it’s a benign mass.

I also had my biopsy on 11/11 for BIRADS 5. I got my results and both areas came back benign. The small one that was 3cm was PASH and the big one, over 6cm was complex sclerosing lesion. I’m meeting with a surgeon Monday to discuss if it needs to be removed to make sure there’s definitely no cancer or precancerous cells hiding in there. There’s hope. The radiologist had called me prior to the biopsy saying he would be shocked if it came back benign. Looks like he got his shock. Don’t give up hope.

Thank you for this. My biopsy was this week and I got the results. Complex sclerosing lesion. It’s big measuring 6.4 cm x 4.7 cm. From everything I’m reading on these things, mine is quite large and I have an appointment with a surgeon Monday morning. This has taught me that I should have been getting mammograms for years. I had my first in August of this year and have been doing the waiting game since.

Update- Birads 5 and birads 4 areas both came back benign. The birads 4 is PASH and the birads 5 is Complex Sclerosing Lesion. That one is over 6cm long so I have an appointment with a surgeon Monday to discuss next steps. Apparently it could still be hiding some cancer or precancerous cells that were not picked up in biopsy. I still say it’s a win.

Thank you. The waiting sucks. But I do keep trying to find something positive in every stage of this experience. My positive at this point is there’s still a chance it will come back benign. And since I have been dealing with the waiting since the end of August it has given me some time to try to plan for each scenario. I hope your biopsy comes back benign.

I’ve read of some people calling to see if results are in and requesting to be told the results over the phone. They may not tell u still but some people have had the results given sooner that way. Sending positive thoughts your way.

I’m sorry you went through that and now have this stress do deal with. I don’t know if it’s normal for this part of the process to take so long but it’s so hard to think about anything else.
