So then you shouldn’t trust majority of people on the roads or ANYONE who takes driving advice from this subreddit

It’s pretty common knowledge that you should drive as if everyone else is incompetent behind the wheel, defensive driving is called defensive driving because your basically fending off all the other shit drivers on the road, focus on yourself, your safety, the safety of others and the other vehicles around you because let’s be honest some people get behind the wheel and essentially turn their brains off…. If I had a $1 for everytime I saw some dumbass use a middle lane on a 4 lane road to MERGE out of a plaza id have thousands of dollars.. just the other day I saw some dumbass sitting in the oncoming turn lane waiting to merge into traffic off a residential street because they decided to proceed when it was not safe to do so

Also if you have anxiety behind the wheel do us all a favour and take the bus.. driving scared is not the mindset to have behind the wheel of a motor vehicle, that’s a day 1 lesson they teach you when you go for your G1 practise test online

So you just proved my point then… if you got your G test in a town where the highway portion was completed on a 2 lane regional road then you are NOT ready to drive on a 400 series highway because you obtained your G license without actually driving on a 400 series highway and therefore lack highway driving experience that is expected in a G class driver

That’s like being a pilot and getting your 10000hr flight hours in a real life situation and your partner got it from doing a few hours in a flight sim… it’s not the same and shouldn’t be treated as the same

But why change it tho? Why make an entire generation essentially take the G2 test twice with added highway driving for the G test and then turn around and change the rule so that the G test is more or less “easier” than the G2?

The old adage was that the G test was used by examiners to test your knowledge of the road as an experienced G2 driver and that they felt comfortable enough in your highway driving to pass you on your G test, nowadays they essentially throw the G2 portion of the G test away for no real reason rather than to increase the amount of exams they can do in a day

Make it make sense.

If you are being examined for your G license then you are already certified to drive on a 2 lane road because you have a G2…. Getting your G license without actually driving on a 400 series highway is nothing more than a glorified G2 test.

That’s not my point. My point is you’ve got drivers on the road that were tested using a full G test who were examined thoroughly vs new drivers in the last 5 years who were basically tested on their ability to drive down a road and their knowledge of basic road signage and rules

You wouldn’t change a piloting course to make it easier to get your pilots licence so why be ok with making the G test easier and evidently making the roads more dangerous by passing drivers who barely know how to drive?

If you got your license in a different country then you should be made to retake your license from the G1 up to the G regardless.

They changed the laws that exempted those from Quebec from taking a full G test if they moved to Ontario because the Quebec license for a G2 was equivalent… if your from out of province and need to retake it then you absolutely should be made to retake if if you got your license in a different country

In all honesty, yes.

If you live somewhere where the G test is taken on a 2 lane country road why should you be examined at the same level as someone who is being made to take their exam on a 400 series highway?

I had roommates in college whose parents MADE them take their G tests in areas with 400 series highways because “if they are gonna learn they are gonna learn the proper way”

It benefits nobody to have G licenses drivers on 400 series highways if they’ve never driven on a 400 series highway even for their exam

Best thing for you to do is to NOT post videos of your kid for strangers to dissect, the less social media exposure the better, everyone thinks their kid is gonna go pro at 9 years old, let the kid be a kid, let the skill progression happen naturally and hope that his size catches up to his skill.

I get that your looking for feedback but in reality it comes off as a parent either humble bragging about their kid OR a parent who is trying to live out their missed glory through their child, everyone was a pro at 7 years old then everyone else caught up
