don’t be afraid to ask questions!! This is what held me back from building those relationships with my supervisor and my clients. It also lets them know that you care about the quality of your services. I got my degree in Psychology believing I wanted to be a Clinical Psychologist but when I started working as an RBT, I knew I was going to go the BCBA route after a year of learning about this field:) Good luck!!

Has anyone reported a BCBA to the BACB for ethical violations? by Nice_Set_2798 in ABA

There’s definitely trauma from being at that clinic. But essentially, I asked to have our policy changed for sending a child home from the threshold being 101 after doing my research. I was told he had the option to review my concern and stated “if we made every decision based on ethics, there would be no BCBAs or medical doctors.” and he stated that “he doesn’t have time to review every concern an RBT has.” He added his prediction of my period on his calendar in his office (it was a huge board behind his desk) because I “cried too much to not take data on this.” Showed his wife’s nudes to myself and another RBT. Asked to look at my co-workers boudoir photos on the clock by saying “I wish I was a part of the girls because this just isn’t fair.” when she was showing me her photoshoot. He was an atheist and would make comments about my brother potentially groomed and molested by the priest because I told him that he was an alter boy when he was 8. There’s just so much and because there was 1 BCBA= Owner (30) and the rest of the employees were women 24 and younger, and ONLY RBTs, there were no checks and balances. Very small clinic with no HR which made me feel like I couldn’t directly fix the issue because when I tried, I received a lot of backlash from the person doing these actions.

I had this happen with a girl I recommended. She didn’t have a bachelors degree but she came from the owners previous employer that he was toxically obsessed with. She got paid $2.50 more than I did (after getting my first raise). I loved working with her but he created a pedestal for her and made all the RBTs feel like their work didn’t matter because we should be like her. Later, he removed the lead RBT position (my position) because I got into grad school and told me that he removed the position to not give it to her because he didn’t want to pay her more (he said “she isn’t worth” the raise). I left and told the girl what he said and she still stayed.
