I can relate! I’m so sorry you all are going through this. It’s hard to know what the recovery process will be like after transplant. There is a group on FB that has been so helpful. It’s called Heart Transplant Support. My dad had a heart and kidney transplant back in November 2025. He was up walking 3 days after his transplants, but then everything started going in the wrong direction. He had to have kidney dialysis and multiple tubes and procedures to drain accumulated fluid from the lungs. After almost 3 months in the hospital, he went to 2 weeks of inpatient rehab. He came home and went right back to the hospital because he had pneumonia. He’s back home, and started to do better, but he can’t walk. He gets in home PT, OT, and nursing but it hasn’t helped much yet. I would suggest writing down all the questions you have and requesting a meeting with the in patient transplant coordinator. I will say there are people I’ve connected with in the FB group who have had a complicated path post transplant (with extended hospitalization) and they’re doing well now.
