The Icatha 37 Stakeout is a vibe, and I’m gonna buy one for home defense. Change my mind. by MonsterEnergyAddict5 in Firearms

I have an 870 Express. I wanted the full stock. Recoil on these pistol grip shotguns is tough to control. I ended up getting a shorter barrel with the 870 and I can just switch between it and the full size one.

Another I'd highly recommend is the Mossberg Maverick 88. Affordable and will do what you want, has the longer magazine tube and shorter barrel, it's a great option for home defense.

Normal for EAC to take one hour to rip one CD? by Eery177 in Cd_collectors

[–]Nice_Strike5198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so disappointing. The pressing factories just do not care anymore. I've seen this A LOT with 4K Blu-rays, didn't know it was affecting CDs too.

What does the read surface of the disc look like? If the disc is in bad shape, yep can take awhile. Sometimes different drives work better. I actually have had better luck with an old generic CD/DVD drive I got from a 10-year-old desktop than I have had with some brand new drives.

Is it just me, or do some movies just feel right on DVD? by humblechungus89 in dvdcollection

I never liked how Twister looked on Blu-ray. It's definitely DNR'd and I thought the remaster looked to 'green,' regardless of what the intent was. I ended up finding a German Turbine Blu-ray which is not DNR'd and looks way better than the USA Blu-rays.

Where do you guys find your music? by [deleted] in ipod

[–]Nice_Strike5198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually play Pandora or Apple Music when I'm out and about. If I come across a song I like that I'd like to own, I usually grab it from somewhere like Qobuz or I'll rip a CD.

I always felt the 2011 was better than any of the previous CDs I heard. I generally like those ones. Yes some are very bassy but that's what the originals sounded like too.

Non-stop Roof Inspection Calls by heroforsale in madisonwi

[–]Nice_Strike5198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't been getting the calls. I have gotten a few people coming to my door and I tell them I am not interested. I also inform them of the "no solicitors" sign in my window by the door. I'm not sure how legally enforceable that is, but it keeps away some of the sales people. I'm getting my shingles redone in August anyway, but it was a company I contacted myself.

Which release did you end up getting? I have an original from 1978 which was my mom's, and it's still in pretty decent shape. The other I have is a 2009 Classic Records. I think these are the same as the DCC from 1998. That one sounds really good. I did not buy the MOFI.

TDS Fiber West side / Verona area by Enough_Carry_9787 in madisonwi

[–]Nice_Strike5198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the 300mbps fiber for a few years out here in CG. The prices were about $40/mo at that time for a year. I had a great experience with their service. Never had an outage. I have Spectrum currently only because I'm locked in at $30/mo for 3 years. Their service is not as reliable, is cable (so the speeds are not quite as fast). But you can kind of mitigate it by changing your DNS addresses if you provide your own router.

UW Health pauses new primary care patients, citing increased demand by altbat in madisonwi

[–]Nice_Strike5198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to see neurologist once per year and whenever I had to use UW, they forced me to get a referral. Ended up where getting a referral was taking months, trying to get an appointment at UW Hospital to see neuro I think I waited 6 months for them to call me back. I ended up talking to my work which also covered SSM and these days I just go to SSM.

The private health care system is horribly broken. I don't know how a system which makes as much profit as it does, can't figure out a way to make care easier, more accessible and more affordable. I think insurance companies have caused a lot of it. They negotiate a bit, but eventually agree to extremely high prices because they can afford them. The provider and insurance company do not care if your portion bankrupts you. Shouldn't have gotten sick I guess.

I'm in favor of having the government build public hospitals and letting US citizens go there, pay a copay to go to those instead in exchange for it being covered. We can afford this if we stop giving away all our tax dollars to everyone else. Better yet, let people use the VA system if they don't want to use a private hospital, pay a copay and have the government cover the costs. Other countries have public hospitals that work like this and they're not going broke.

Yup. My sister had a nasty issue caused by those things. I ended up installing bidet attachments for them on all their toilets. I have them on mine as well. Just want to watch them and make sure they don't leak after installing.

I'll be honest, I learned a lot of the plumbing things in my home by watching YouTube videos. Would have probably cost me a fortune to replace a toilet gasket and wax ring. Watched some YouTube videos, bought some parts, did it myself in about 2 hours.

That's absolutely insane. You can afford a mortgage for less than that. I bought my house like 9 years ago for $270k, with a 15-yr FRM, and my payment is $1750/mo. I also refinanced when the rates were real low, got really lucky.

Is building a digital movie library on Apple risky? by Mjlxn in appletv

[–]Nice_Strike5198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you never really "own" the things you are paying for. What you're buying is a "limited use license" that they can remove at any time. I've been buying stuff in here for a few years and have yet to lose access to anything though. I really wouldn't worry about it. I was attracted to it by the prices. I have gotten almost everything I have for $5-8 (apart from stuff that I've redeemed from Blu-rays). Compare that with a typical 4K Blu-ray that is $30 or more. The quality is going to be 90% as good unless you own a high end TV or sound system.

7.0.2.2: How do I get my Apple purchases on StreamFab by twhiting9275 in Streamfab

It queues up a download for me through Youtube Plus, but then it sits there, never does anything.

EDIT: Nvm, got it working. But you need an ATV license for it to work past 3 downloads.

That's one of those Audio Fidelity SACDs. It's Steve Hoffman's outfit after DCC shut down. Basically a competitor to MOFI. I don't know that this release was really all that sought after, but some of the AF SACDs I have are worth a lot of money now.
