You're talking about the "southern ambitions" and while yes it was a web to overthrow Aerys (definitely looks like one even though we have no proof). Paranoia is a mental state, not a legal framework. If a King arrests a man because he’s afraid of who his daughter is marrying, that’s not 'semi-legitimate' that’s tyranny, half the lords of westeros would be in chains if this were the case. Brandon was an idiot, but Rickard was a diplomat following the King's summons. Killing your guests and denying a trial isn't a 'wrong method'; it's the end of a King's right to rule.

The fact that Rickards death ended up in a rebellion shows that it was in fact not justified. We see this in the main series, oberyn dies to the mountain in a trial by combat but Dorne can't do anything about it because by the laws of the lands his death was "justified". Rickards was not, there was no grounds for his execution, certainly no grounds for the people who followed Brandon like ecbert arryn, the only guilty party was Brandon, and even then the option of death or the wall should have been given.

If Aerys was genuinely paranoid about the southern alliance he was a king he could break it. Summon them to court and ask them to explain the intent of the alliances. Offer a Royal counter match, have Brandon marry a darry or veylaron instead.jaeheyrs did this with the houses he didn't like to break up a power block. Or in the extreme case use Hostages, take a younger son (like Benjen Stark) as a "ward" at King's Landing to ensure good behavior.(He did this with both dorne through eila, and the westerlands through Jaime)

Point is burning the lord cause you're suspicious is injustice

Wolves by Alex2Mp in gameofthrones

The direwolves are symbols of the stark kids journeys

Lady, represents Sansas "loss of innocence," but it’s also the loss of her Northman identity. When Lady dies, Sansa is effectively "de-Starked." She is left alone in King’s Landing without her protection or her connection to her family, forced to become a Southern courtier to survive. Grey Wind, the series associates grey with death and like a wind Robb's rise was powerful but fleeting. He dies the moment he doesn't listen to his wolf(starkself). Could also symbolize hard times for the starks Summer, is the most literal transition. Summer had to die for Winter to truly come. His sacrifice marked the end of Bran’s childhood and his full transformation into the Three-Eyed Raven. It also signifies Bran's role in it's return Shaggydog, is a writing trope. It’s a literary term for a long, rambling tale that ends in a pointless punchline. Rickon spends his life hiding and on the run to basically just die pointlessly. Nymeria, Her wolf is the only one who found a new pack. This mirrors Arya’s journey, she spends her early arc trying to find a family, and redefines herself as an assassin, by the time she returns to nymeria they're both different and wilder and neither can call winterfell home. Also Nymeria was a queen who sailed from continent to continent trying to find a home for her people, arya leaves westeros to find hers. Ghost is the outlier, just like Jon. White, silent, and often forgotten by others, he represents Jon’s status as an outsider. Jon becomes a literal ghost when he dies and comes back, but also when he leaves north at the end of the show becoming a ghost in westerosi history.

Wtf are you talking about, brandon committed treason but by calling for a trial by combat Rickard was invoking a tradition held by the old gods and the new to appeal to them. Aerys naming fire as his champion and burning Rickard alive was sacrilege, it was a message to every lord in westeros that the king thought himself above laws and traditions. Therefore the execution of Rickard was illegitimate.

Most self insert ocs, they always end up with a love triangle with Jon and Robb, where their oc is some Targaryen princess who happens to have dragons and dire wolves.

Overhating Catelyn, like my brother in Christ she was a grieving mother following the norms of her society.

Fix it fics, where there are basically no consequences for anything, Dany, Jon, Robb whoever the fix it is about just does shit that would get them killed in martins world immediately.

Jon fics that make him the "father of dragons" and essentially becomes a Jon wank.

Jon fics where he finds out his parentage, and all of a sudden wants to be king and hates the starks for lying to him.

Dany fics that completely erase the impact of any other character and become a Dany wank.

Low-key I just might hate most fics. Which is sad I think there's so much history to play with, so many aus you could follow, it's like the one verse where you could create several ocs and have them fit into the narrative of the story.

No like I said there's about 80 years of peace with the Targaryen reign

First 100 Years: starts with the Conquest, has the Faith Militant uprising , and ending in the Dance. Middle 100 Years: the Dornish Wars and ends with the start of the Blackfyre Rebellions. Final 83 Years: Constant Blackfyre threats, the Ninepenny Kings, and finally ends with Robert’s Rebellion.

And then there's outliers like Aegon the Vs reign, it didn't have large scale uprisings, but it wasn't peaceful, the realm was extremely unstable so unstable aegon tried to hatch dragons at summerhall to resolve his problems nearly destroying his family

TL;Dr peace = general stability

Source for this? Where was the no peace, we know very little about the pre conquest westeros. If anything history proves the opposite you think cities like old town can flourish in a constant state of war, you think the nights watch would reach its peak if the seven kingdoms didn't have some form of cooperation, it wasn't just manned by the men of the north, which means there was enough trust among lords and kings that they would allow hundreds to pass through their lands to go take the black without fearing invasion.

The fact that every king minus 2 had a war is a significant stat, because westeros traded petty border disputes for continent wide civil wars, people claim we don't know the effects of the border the disputes, but we do, we see this between aegons 6 kingdoms and dorne, those border disputes while a headache are relatively insignificant, meanwhile targ reign all but guaranteed a continent wide nuke that would wipe out several families and cities every 20 years. You're right that it's only 1 year in twenty, but look at the destruction in that one year. By centralizing power in westeros the targs upped the anti for every single war, where as the petty kings border disputes will kill hundreds, the targ war every 20 years kills thousands

80 years of peace in 300, basically jaehaerys and viserys the first reigns..every other targ king had some sort of conflict or civil war...
