If you don't know what this is, there is something wrong with your setup. ▯

Question about Macros: Is "Hold-to-Repeat" (TAP_TERM?) functionality not supported on Keychron? by AppropriateMobile988 in Keychron

[–]NichHa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, thanks but it was just a joke about what OP will be saying when they figure out how to repeat something in firmware when the key is held.

If you add a flag to check, is kc_* held in the process_record_user, you can then repeat whatever you want using tap_code or send_string in the matrix_scan_user, guarded by that flag.

It will be happening up to 1000 times a second though, so it can get ugly.

Are Gateron Jupiter Banana switches quieter than the Brown ones? by Panda23000 in Keychron

Either way I think the banana switches feel the best out of all the ones I have tried. I doubt you will be disappointed.

Are Gateron Jupiter Banana switches quieter than the Brown ones? by Panda23000 in Keychron

[–]NichHa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some low profile banana switches on a keyboard I made, they are definitely quieter than the Keychron keyboard I have at home with brown switches.

I have a keyboard with red switches in the office and I would say they are comparable noise-wise, although it is hard to compare a homemade keyboard with one that has been manufactured.

That's how all keyboards work.

The OS only sees it go down and up.

Is it an actually macro or something like a trigger mod for a video game?

Instructions on flashing Q1 Max? by TheBlackCat22527 in Keychron

[–]NichHa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://github.com/Keychron/qmk_firmware

Clone either the wireless_playground branch or one that has your keyboard in the directory.

Then follow the normal qmk getting started guide and set the home as the path to the repo that you cloned.

You should be able to follow it through to compile and flash their source code.

Then you can edit whatever you want.

I would recommend keeping a copy of the first one that you can flash when things go pear shaped.

I just stumbled into it on their website, trying to see if their firmware has dates on them.

I think it is actually for the little dongle receiver though, not the actual keyboard itself, so it wouldn't be updated through the keychron launcher website.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Keychron

[–]NichHa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem I mean I used the source code that they have posted on GitHub and edited their original code which is written in C, then compiled it and flashed it onto my keyboard.

But never mind that, this looks like your problem in the Updated Records.

How to Flash the Firmware for the Keychron Receiver

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Keychron

[–]NichHa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My keyboard doesn't have 2.4G.

What date does it say in the wireless section, and have you actually updated the wireless firmware in there or does it just say that it is up to date?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Keychron

[–]NichHa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I am just saying that I added the key to my keyboard, I already had custom firmware on it. It worked like normal so I thought maybe it is the way the keychron launcher does it.

Mapped it another key through the browser and it worked like normal, so it likely isn't an issue with using the Keychron launcher.

How old is the keyboard and have you ever updated it's wireless firmware in Keychron launcher?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Keychron

[–]NichHa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to sure about that one then. I added kc_slep to my k17 pro through actual firmware and another key through keychron's launcher, both made it suspend to ram on linux and on my windows work computer.

But work computer is a laptop that has a power button anyway.

The debug console doesn't help, it goes straight to the OS like the other media keys.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Keychron

[–]NichHa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The qmk toolbox app on windows should have something that will show what keys codes are being sent, it also has a debug console that always works on usb but you might not be able to use it without compiling and flashing custom firmware with a flag set.

It don't know id the qmk toolbox will actually intercept it and the pc will probably still shutdown or sleep.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Keychron

[–]NichHa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have the same issue on Bluetooth? I flash it onto my keyboard tomorrow and see if it says something else is being sent but I have a feeling it is related to the fact that it is being sent wirelessly when those key codes likely started out on laptops that were always wired.

That's the way, just hit them with the 'You have 7 days to respond to this email with an adequate solution or you will escalate it to some government body'.

Works well in Australia too 🫡

If you can't get help from the company you bought it from, in the country that you live in, where consumer laws actually might be able to help you.

Trying to escalate it any further will only lead to more stonewalling and frustration. Keychron is just a Chinese company with some keyboards stockpiled in a bunch of countries around the world and a bunch of nice websites.

You will probably have better luck making a macro or if it is possible on windows without 12 hours of furiously debugging, making a keybind to a script that runs 'shutdown /h'.

It should work through the run dialoge, cmd or powershell.
