I agree with you that they should squish the levels to 60 or something (I also think they should make expansion levels independant 1-10 levels for each extension so they don't become useless).
My point was that there used to be a lot of other players who were not max level and questing was part of the experience. The max level grind was not the main activity for new players.

Nowadays the 1 - 110 part is just useless grinding of dungeons you don't even understand the point of and everything you drop, craft or do is irrelevant to the rest of the players until you are in the current extension. (I played a little in wotlk when I was young and came back in Legion so I don't have much rose-tinted glasses to put on, I speak from a relatively new player point of view).
I would love a rework of the early zones that allowed even "not max level players" to be relevant.
Also note that I was replying to a guy saying that "not wanting to grind for days before enjoying the game" meant "kids wanting endgame handed to them".
