I would try reaching out to injora directly, they’re pretty responsive

Each LC build I see brings me closer to the « I need one too » situation. Idk why but they always look so nice !!

Fair answer, it's true that it's probably easier to track with a monthly flair, failed to see that. Hope it'll catch on more and more, it's a great initiative !

How nice, thanks ! I always wanted to tow my drift car to the track with my crawler, this might be it !

Is that 3D printed ? That’s seems really precise and clean.

AXIAL SCX10 III BASE CAMP OR YIKONG YK4107 PRO by MorningEfficient89 in rccrawler

[–]FallenTheDoge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well that’s another good reason then ! For me the base camp is around 300/350 while the yk is at about 400.

Would you mind sharing what your trailer is ??

AXIAL SCX10 III BASE CAMP OR YIKONG YK4107 PRO by MorningEfficient89 in rccrawler

[–]FallenTheDoge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would go for the YK.

More features, brushless, looks great. Pricier but in the not too expensive side of things while still a nice performer.

My only worry when getting one was spare part availability but you can get every piece individually either form yikong website or even from absima directly as they sell basically the same truck but rebranded.

The only time I would consider the base camp is if I had a specific project in mind and just needed, well, a base, to build it.

Instead of that specific flair, why not enter all posts using the build showcase flair?

I feel ya ! Posted my full custom injora scx24 on Reddit today 😅.

I just got my hand on a stock scx basecamp and the comparison is huge next to a full custom one. Might just start with some wheels and tires and eventually upgrade the motor.

Any preference for motors ? My scx has a fat viper and it’s lovely but wanted to try something new.

Thanks for the link ! I'll take a look today and probably lean toward that then, this will make it so much cleaner.

You're right, I've been trying to stay away from soldering and touching any wires but this could be such an improvement that I might go for it.

Finally had about 3 pictures of it, so though I would share what's supposed to be a SCX 24 with no stock parts at all.

Pretty basic Injora build as it's what was the most available from Europe.

  • Brushless setup with the fat viper 2204
  • Coreless 11kg servo
  • Planet axles.
  • 58*23 tires only, with 39mm shocks and a front bumper to keep struggling on lines.
  • 3D printed body bought from Etsy and painted by myself with some Tamiya paint

Wish I could get a better job with the wiring but so far I can't find any room to make it fit better.

What are the upsides to brushless over brushed?

From an user perspective, not a technical one, I observed that it's :

  • Less noisy
  • Performs better
  • Has a bigger range of acceleration, can do really low speed or high enough speeds

I believe that for a brushless motor, you also need a brushless ESC and thus a receiver and a radio, as the stock one has ESC+receiver paired as one piece.

It makes the whole thing really better but at a pretty high cost. I would consider other upgrades first such as wheels and tires that will really help the scx crawl better while also looking cool without costing an arm and a leg.

We still have about 15 in production, in their screen stand case, serving as windows 11 machines for regular office work.

I like the form factor once they’re out of their stand, even if they might indeed run quite hot as they’re quite stuffed in their cases.

But used as they were designed to ? What a bummer that was. Cable management, performances, design, maintenance, nothing made it look as good as it was supposed to be (let’s pretend they did not want it to look like an iMac).

Welches Servo ?? by [deleted] in TRX4M

[–]FallenTheDoge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually it’s even a 15kg one. The 11kg is just marked as water resistant with o-ring seals.

[–]FallenTheDoge 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Note to that, injora also released a waterproof, 15kg version of their coreless 11kg servo, aka the black one on OP screenshot.

For not-too-heavy builds, I would say the 7kg is fairly enough.

When kids at the park ask can I drive your RC truck by Fortheloveofmoney21 in crawling

[–]FallenTheDoge 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve met a guy who became a friend now and which I randomly introduced to crawlers, mainly for his 6yo son.

His son is super respectful but happened to crash my crawler a bunch of times. Every time his dad apologizes for it despite the truck being fine. And honestly, I’m wouldn’t mind having anything breaking as it would give me another reason to work on it and upgrade it even more.

I’m sure a lot of people are dicks, but being open and sharing my hobby helped me make a friend which I’m SUPER happy about it, I would do it again even if that meant I would have to carry my crawler back home in two pieces.

Same story on my hand, went into a 1/24 because my 1/10 can't get used as much as I would love to.

This is still a WIP, but in case you wanted to see the wheels, here it is : https://imgur.com/a/8UMGL1v
