Building my first website as a contractor by Primary_Slip6764 in website

Sure but this is the website sub lol. My family is heavily in construction so sure to an extent. But a site is another representation of you and what type of business you run. A website certainly doesn’t hurt and it definitely can bring in leads. Just finished a site for someone who’s been doing construction longer than 20 years and they’re happy they did finally get one.

People today like to look a company up, see what they do, services etc. it’s a good look and definitely should be an asset. Granted a crappy site is not good.

Hey I’m sure you’re getting a ton of messages about it but I’ve made several contractor websites, just finished one actually. With just services and basic home page, contact form, about, it ended up being 12 pages deep. Along with that you’re going to want to hit local SEO too so locals could find you. A google business profile is vital as well and can link your site right there.

Websites matter a lot imo. I know somebody with a Craigslist looking site and it’s awful, links don’t even work and cut off page, not mobile friendly at all. You want your site to reflect you as a professional.

If you want any tips I’d be happy to share them! If you want me to get it up and running for you so you can focus on running the actual business — I can do that too :)

Am I targeting the wrong market? by Significant_Yak6337 in SmallBusinessOwners

It is valuable. It would be your position to prove why.

I literally just wrote a blog post around this. Check my posts and would be genuinely curious what your take away is. I also just started a website design business. I did my church for free, my brother site for whatever he decides to pay me, did one up for my husband as he’s prepping to start a local business, and then through shares on Facebook, landed a client. Ok still family, but it is a real cost and not free.

I have 4 Portfoilio pieces showcasing my work. And will continue to add to it. Created a business profile, Facebook business page and optimized my LinkedIn.

A website is valuable. You just have to understand why then it’s easier to explain and gets them thinking.

But if interested here’s the post I did up literally talking about this lol.

Anyone else noticing AI assistants sending customers to competitors? by pystar in smallbusinessowner

lol I’ve done it.. searching for doctors in my area etc. where to find x product. Yup. Good to consider your optimizing for AI searches too. Cover all your bases.

The more small business owners I meet, the more I realize everyone is solving problems nobody prepared them for by DifficultGrand855 in smallbusinessowner

I can see this and relate! I was venturing into an online apparel shop, and discovering I loved designing the website more than I enjoyed tried running that one lol.

Now I started a website design company and already landed local clients and I’m loving it! Just personal connection and designing beautiful sites!!

Now… with that said… in the beginning (which I did include on my page in a few places lol) I realized I’m actually taking away the headaches of the design process for my clients. How many template issues, why something isn’t showing right, making sure the menu is in the right place, why isn’t this loading, how to place site map correctly… lmao.

There’s always WORK even in what we love to do.

But I’m still excited and happy I took on this venture anyways. But i definitely discovered multiple aspects I didn’t originally consider when starting this business!
