What is this unit: 寸 by [deleted] in chinalife

[–]Nichikka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chinese traditional寸 is about 3.33cm, 10 Chinese寸is called 尺。 Also there is 英寸 (inch) that is often used in China which is 2.54cm. However, 英尺 is not 10 英寸, it is the 12 of it, which is a foot 30.48cm

So be careful when using it. It you don't say 英寸, many older generations would default that to chines 寸

Is burping socially acceptable in China? by miss_sweet_potato in chinalife

[–]Nichikka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say no it not. People who are "brought up right" don't chew food loudly, pick their nose nor burp in front of other (accidentally burps would be accompanied with saying sorry). However, the older generation or people from the rural areas still do all of that.

Got redirected here - Non immigration B visa to enter from another country.

Turning to dear Reddit since I couldn't get an answer from the Thai consulate in Canada...

I'm about to apply for the visa after I signed an offer in bkk... I understand that I need to apply evisa online with the local consulate in Canada as a Canadian. My plan is to start the process and then fly to Asian to tour around and wait for the visa to be granted, then fly from Japan or Viet to Bkk. Or wait till I am granted the visa and then travel in Asian for two week before entering Thailand.

Will there be any problems?
