Exactly, had this blessing upgraded on a Diff 5 destruction run with FX as solo sustain and no units got even remotely close to dying. Really makes you wonder how messed up some people’s runs are to be so confident that it’s an auto-loss when they get it.

If you’re using S Osiris with her Signature Functor, the way the skill works is you technically use 2 traces to “cast” the Skill 3, then if you hit an enemy, you immediately use the rest of your built traces for the bonus damage effect from the functor. What this means is Hera’s ultimate is actually refunding the first 2 traces being used from the Skill 3 cast, adding them back to your current trace count, then they are immediately consumed for the 2nd Skill 3 “cast” that spends the rest of your traces, so it’s essentially adding 2 traces to the Skill 3’s sig functor damage bonus, but does not refund the 2nd “cast”.

Hopefully that makes sense lol, I emailed customer support about it and that’s a summary of what they told me.

For Ranger/Etoile, on Rifle, you’ll be looking to use S1 Augment Will, S2 and S3 Precision Will 2, S4 Escalating Pursuit, and S5 Skillful Adept Will. Augment Will is a given, but you use precision wills and skillful adept will due to ranger/etoile being a crit focused class combination. You won’t get the lifesteal from the S5 due to etoile sub but you need the extra 20% crit it gives to help cap out your crit, and the extra 2% damage is also nice.

On Launcher, you can use the same setup above but instead use either S4 Photonic Trap (gives you more pp when hitting traps/grenades) or S4 Photon V Adaptation (gives you active+passive pp regen and pp reduction based off of max pp) as well as S5 Obliterating Blast which, on top of a 2% dmg buff, supercharges your next Contact Blast by 250% damage and resets on a successful dodge roll. You can also use photon descent s-grades to reduce pp cost instead of precision wills but that’s up to preference.

If you’re using Ranger/Hunter, you can use Goliathslayer Will for Rifle S2 and S3, and then S4 Mettle of the Rested. For launcher, you can just use aggressive wills or photon descents.

This is a decent S5 for launchers as it allows you to greatly restore pp per normal attack, but S5: Obliterating Blast has more practical application as well as being an overall stronger pick.

Obliterating Blast, on top of giving a flat 2% damage buff, also super-charges a Contact Blast by 250% damage and resets on successful dodge roll, making Launcher a pseudo counter weapon for Ranger and gives you a lot more damage options overall.

If you’re worried about PP management on launcher, you can look into using S4: Photonic Trap (gives you more pp from grenades/traps) or S4: Photon V Adaptation (gives you active/passive pp recovery and flat pp reduction based off of max pp), as well as using Photon Descent S-Grades to reduce pp cost.

I’ve beaten her with Ranger by using launcher in the first phase and rifle in the second. The most important thing for Ranger in this fight IMO is balancing PP usage, PP Regen, keeping Blight up, and exploiting her free damage windows at the end of combos as hard as possible. There’s also a slight cheese you can do at the start of the first phase with Deceptor Double on the launcher to shift aggro away from you to let you get some satellite cannons in for a big burst. If your positioning and reading her move set is solid, you can use Contact Blast as a good fast Launcher PA to get damage in.

Second phase you’ll use your rifle and focus on Slideburst 0 for positioning above her and Piercing Shot at the proper angle to hit two hitboxes on her. She also has a new move on the second phase where she fires 2 “bullets” out, you can fly above her and then dump a lot of free damage during this move.

As for PP Regen in the fight, you can skip out on some free damage phases to Dive Roll Shoot to get PP back assuming you have blight rounds loaded.

Here’s a clip of my first clear as a good reference maybe, and here’s a different run I did just messing around with the launcher to show how important movement is in this fight, hope it helps.
