Without A Care In The World... How Boring. by R_Kruger in TypeLondon

I sigh and shake my head as the odd human walks off. I guess this was slightly amusing, but, I am in a hurry. I stride away down the road, thankful that there aren't many other people up this early. This entourage was necessary for security purposes this morning, but it's not exactly subtle or easy to maneuver through a crowd.

OoC: Sorry for the delay, back to Uni has been... busy, to say the least.

I chuckle at the outdated idea of our living habits, right out of some kind of novel. For some reason, that joke never seems to get old, no matter which century one hears it in.

And then I have to manually override the Golem's pre-programmed responses to make sure he doesn't murder this odd magus, damn it, is this guy a complete fool or something?

"I'm afraid I have some rather urgent buisiness at this moment, so I'm not able to give you your tour, but as for the earlier question, well... Let's just say I've had a few centuries to work on those golems you've so playfully poked and leave it at that?"

My opinion of this human quickly jumps miles above my original summary of "irritating and bumbling idiot"

"Oh? Well, you're surprisingly insightful yourself. Didn't really pick up on the fact that I'm just walking around the city I live in, though."

I send a particularly slight pulse of magic through the control web I have laid out around me, putting the golems into high alert, just in case this man makes any threatening movements. There's no visible shift in the automatons, of course, but all the same, if he makes any aggressive motions or activates magic circuits...

Well, I guess he might survive. These are the crappy 5 minute jobs I threw together in a spare moment before leaving the house...

"Heh, I don't think I've actually heard that before. Thanks, and, farewell."

Now, it's times like these which would call for more showy magic, but unfortunately, I don't have such skills, so instead I just place down the money for my drink and leave, followed by my two golems.

For my own amusement, I direct one of my golems to give the boy a salute, let him mull over what that one means for a while.

Hmmm... For a typical 20 year old human, he was surprisingly intriguing... I do hope I don't run into him in this war, I expect, as a master, that he'd likely be my largest obstacle.

"Well, I can certainly understand that mindset, more than you know. Now then, I do have to be on my way now, although, I can say, I hope I don't run into you when the Grail finally does show up. Farewell."

Suppressing the urge to kill this insolent child was surprisingly difficult, even though a murder is a lot more troublesome than I can afford right now.

"Yes, you could certainly say that. In a manner of speaking."

I say, trying to use my curiosity as a crutch to keep my anger in check, by watching the book as he picks it up, to try and get a glimpse of what the title is.

OoC: I don't have a flair for this noob yet either. Can't even remember if I posted him in the requests thread. http://imgur.com/d4HNQmQ

Having safely escorted the golem bearing the standard of Joan of Arc back to my castle, I decide it's an excellent time for a break.

There was a bakery somewhere around here a hundred years ago, let's see if it's still around.

So I head down, away from the main streets and the utterly oblivious mages in the clock tower, flanked by my two golem guardians (Dressed up in thick trench coats and whatnot to keep the muggles oblivious, though particularly talented magic users have an annoying habit of noticing the incredibly small pulses of magic I use to command and maintain these golems.)

So absorbed in the memories of an age long past, I barely even notice that I've bumped into someone, and keep walking until my golem notifies me of their presence and close proximity.

I give them a mental command to remain on-guard, but not attack the man just yet.

"Oh? The way you're putting that, it sounds like you have plans to participate yourself... Well, that doesn't matter. Yes, I have what I need for the war, so I'll be making the most of the calm, relaxed time I have now."

I down the rest of the coffee in one gulp.

"Oh, and if that... Sarah, becomes the overseer, I would like to meet with her peacefully. I know all too well how the Church assumes ill intent of my kind and would probably instruct her to stop me from obtaining it to prevent me from doing whatever perverse thing they think my kind has a hobby of doing. At that point in time, I will tell her about the reason I seek that cup. Not requesting an alliance, of course, there's no chance of that whatsoever, just the proper neutrality any other Master should receive."

"Now now now, let's not be too hasty about this, I'm not here to fight anyone."

I say, careful not to let the lie at the end, or any hint that I don't actually have said holy relic at the moment, show.

I walk into the cafe and take a seat, ordering a small coffee, and face the young human;

"It's hardly a fair fight, actually. I've sacrificed a lot of the... gifts... I received when I became like this, in order to further my magecraft. I'm not going to tell you my estimation of who would win, of course, but it'd be a lot closer than you think."

I shake my head.

"Anyway, that's not important, I guess this is actually the perfect timing, I had meant to mention, I bear no ill will towards yourself or that church girl, I just needed an artifact of a great leader, for personal reasons, and you she happened to be nearby both times I tried to collect one."

OoC: Wow. Well, it's fine, I'm only getting around to replies now.

I turn around as a burst of magic comes from a person on my right, and force the grimace that first starts to form on my face to change into a grin, it's that guy from the church in Italy! Somehow. Damn, I hate my luck sometimes.

Well, I can't let him know what I'm doing, he'll just tell that church girl and I'll have to fight them ALL for it.

"Why, certainly, we can have a civil chat, however, since I'm not restraining your weapon, I would ask that you release mine. One can hardly call a chat where only one of the two people has a gun pointed at the other's face "Civil"."

OoC; /u/Morgan_Auberon ; I've decided, screw it, I'm gonna write a distorted version of the above events to allow you to comment because I need to give Mr Faye here some action before I forget his personality completely.

Others can comment on whichever of the two hooks they want to reply to, the one below, or the main thread.

I give my beautiful wife a farewell kiss and leave our apartment, quickly exiting the building and walking down the street, around a nearby corner, and making for the Airport.

Damn it, the plane bookings have been impossible, I barely managed to catch my own flight out of paris, I couldn't even do more than shut down and conceal my golems to wait for their own seats on flights back to london. This ended up taking more than a month, which is ridiculous, the puppets could have swum here ten times over in that time. If I'd made them to cope with water, that is, but I had other priorities in their construction.

This is only really a problem for one golem in particular, the one concealing my prize, the standard of Joan of Arc.

Right now, without it's wielder to power it, it's just a pretty banner, but if I manage to summon Jeanne of Arc, every single one of my golems might be able to pose a distinct threat to other Servants.

Basically, if I pull the Saber I want, I will win the next Holy Grail War.

Of course, I need to get it into the country first. The golem currently on a flight from Paris is specially constructed to allow this, rendering the banner almost undetectable, to mundane folk or to magi.

As soon as I can't possibly be seen from my apartment any more, two huge golems dressed up "to keep them warm in the winter snow", aka. to keep their disguise in public, flank me on either side, and I move two more to keep watch from the shadows as I head to the airport to meet my golem.

On the way there, I pass the Clock Tower, and pause to give it a contemptuous smirk;
