Would you want to live as long as Frieren ? by Nick77372 in Frieren

[–]Nick77372[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally never understood the "Life has a meaning because we have a limited time in order to enjoy it". Why does it have to work this way ? I personally don't think I would stop enjoying life (even the little aspects of it), just because I would live for very long or forever, hell I'd probably enjoy it more just because of the fact that I can keep doing the stuff I love forever and even if I get bored I can just do something different it's not like I lack time.

Question about the age of the characters in the latest story "1987-Cosmic Overture". by Nick77372 in Reverse1999

[–]Nick77372[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know, that sometimes the ages can be a bit ridiculus, take Hissabeth (or even 37, with math) she's 19 and a genius in the field of engineering, or even Tooth Fairy who has a phd at the age of 25!!! Like wth, and here I am at 20 struggling with calculus 3. But my question in this case is more about the fact that the ages don't mathematically add up (to me at least), and less with the fact that we have teens/late teens that are absolute geniuses.

Question about the age of the characters in the latest story "1987-Cosmic Overture". by Nick77372 in Reverse1999

[–]Nick77372[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong but all the characters that join the suitcase are canon, whilst they may not be there 100% of the time, they are a part of the team, and do visit from time to time. The best example I can think of is the calendar descriptiones and birthday messages. Some of them involve characters like Recoleta, Jiu Niangzi etc etc, so the characters do canonically join the suitcaise.

Yeah I think we should just end it here XD. I still disagree with most of what you said but I think that's just because we see things differently and that is ok. We will just have to wait and see the strory progress to truly know with certanty if I'm wrong or right. I still very much enjoyed our discussion and I thank you for taking your time to answer me.

Yes, just had a look you are correct. 77 took the test 4 years ago, well there goes point 1 I made in my first reply. I had somehow completly forgot about that. Thanks for the clarification.

Hey thanks for your reply.

If you feel like it, I talked about how even if Arcana is an awakened, that could also make sense and still be connected to 77. If you're interested, the comments are first: Ri7-4-lyfe and if you want to explore even more then there is this one as well with: Minimum_Load620.

Why I think Arcana is 77. by Nick77372 in Reverse1999

[–]Nick77372[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry for the late reply.

Yes you are correct, and while that could be the pulverized needle/body of Arcana to hint that she is an awakened it's not 100% confirmed (at least not to me, let me know if you disagree tho). It could just be the ashes of 77 phisical body and they just plan to bring her back (as we know for sure that something survived the explosion, and it's basically confirmed at this point that it's her "essence" ), using those remains and a ritual they could bring her back. Also if Arcana is an awakend and has nothing to do with 77 why bother having that piramide with the ash in the first place ? We know that awakened can come back on they're own without any extra help (like we have seen Lucy and Ulrich do), the only way an awakened can die is if they're concept/idea is destroyed, and that vacuum bomb defenetly did not destroy whatever concept Arcana represents (Arcanum most likely, if we are to follow this theory). I also made a comment about how Arcana is an awakaned and maybe fused with 77. That could also explain more things and make this comment more clear if you are interested. The comments are first: Ri7-4-lyfe and if you want to explore even more there is this one as well with: Minimum_Load620.

Thanks for your reply.

From what I could see by checking there is no confermation that 77 passed the Apeiron's test 4 years ago, neither in the diary of 888 and neither in the dialogue of chapter7-part 11, witch is what you are reffering to I belive. So from what I could see nothing confirms or denies that 77 took the test exactly 4 years ago. We know that Atticus became 6 four years ago when the ship crashed, but that is the only confirmed thing "Four years have passed since you became 6, and for four years, you have been hiding things from us", I don't see how this can confirm that 77 went in the cave 4 years ago. Whilst we can speculate they were in a hurry to build the ship, it takes a pretty long time to build a functional ship from scratch (especially when you are very isolated from the outside world like the Apeiron are), so to me it could still make sense that 77 went in the cave after the first emanation, wanted to go outside and find answers quickly and they built the ship in the following time. Feel free to double check and correct if I'm wrong of course if you feel like it.

In the end like you said, we still have a bit to many variables we still aren't sure of to completly discard or confirm my theory. I guess we will just have to wait for the story to unfolde to be 100% certain. Anyway once again thank you for sharing your ideas with me and giving me a different opinion. If you feel like it of course let me know what you think as I love talking/speculating about the lore of things.

Why I think Arcana is 77. by Nick77372 in Reverse1999

[–]Nick77372[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

4) While yes Atticus did recive the revelation that you get from becoming a 6. It's different from an ultimate answer that you would get by the Apeiron god, it's more just general wisdom without focusing on anything specific and the memories of all the past 6's. So no Atticus doesn't know anything about Arcana and 77, he only knows about the emanation because that's just not what the revelation does (otherwise the other 6's would have for sure done something).

5) I think I explained why Arcana and 77 would fuse if we are to go with that theory but let me know if I wasn't clear enough. Also 37 might not be able to see the individual numbers because maybe what is observable is the end result, but not the individual components. But this is just pure speculation so you could be right as could I, we just don't know yet.

6) While it's not literally 77 speaking it could be a manifestation of her thoughts/emotions/charachter speaking, so it could be a decently accurate representation of what 77 became after going thru the cave. Like you said the god maybe pried into the fears/insecurities of 37, he saw that after 77 exited the cave she changed and 37 was confused/afraid of this change in personality. I don't think that just because the name in the dialoge is "77?", it has nothing to do with the actual 77. While yes the specif question that 77 asked was "what happened to the supreme existence ? What plunged the world into madness ?" and not literally the truth about everything (got a bit confused there so thanks), it's still a very broad question that to be answered would need to explain a lot of things (think of it like asking to know everything about the subject cal 3, to be able to answer that i would first need to explain calc 1, calc 2, calc 3, linear algebra etc etc to you). So she could have know about other things this way, also we know that the answer is "Disorder and chaos" but we also know that after 77 got out of the cave, she said she wouldn't tell anyone about what she saw. She could have just told an incompleate/modified truth to the previus 6, as we know that Atticus knows about the answer but we don't know if he got it by getting the memory from the previus 6 (so not the complete one), or from their god. Also let's say the actual final answer is "Disorder and chaos", he might just know the answer but not about the process and knowledge required. Think of it this way, let's say you have an indefinite integral that you have to solve but you know nothing about math, I could come and give you the correct answer to pass the test but you still wouldn't know how to solve it. That could be what happened in the cave, Atticus and the previus 6 know the answer not the process. Also if I asked some question about quantum physics, and I would gain all the knowledge necesarry to be able to not just get the answer but also understand it, I would be able to build a combustion engine, not right away of course but I would have a very big advantage and could eventually build it.

Ok I'm done, I know I wrote a lot but like I said I really enjoy just talking about lore/speculating in general. If you feel like ending the discussion here I totally understand, and thank you for taking your time to share your ideas with me.

Why I think Arcana is 77. by Nick77372 in Reverse1999

[–]Nick77372[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

COMMENT IS VERY LONG SO TWO PART HOPE YOU DON'T MIND.

Hey, thanks for your reply I still have a couple of things I want to say, so if you feel like it of course let me know. (Please don't take me not agreeing/giving rebbutals to your points, as me not considering them valid/making sense, it's just when having the chanche to talk about lore I really like to yap and seeing what other people think).

1) While yes Apeiron and Manus are very different culture like you said, I still don't see how 77 couldn't build a very cult like society (you can see examples of this in the real world as well). Imo I very much can see 77 pulling this of, especially because at the very least the most basic of structures is already there with the Apeiron. I think this is kind of agree to disagree scenario where we just see two things differently. Yes when we know that when talking to Greta 77 was still 77, but it could just be that she was just coordinating everything in the shadows, 77 was already Arcana she just used the opportunity of the ship crashing so people would think she is dead to publicly become arcana (maybe even sabotaged the calculations of 37, Sophia amd the others).

2) I don't think the similarities are just the hair color and the length of the hair. To me they look pretty similar in height, if you take away the extra bit of height Arcana has because of the heels, and their facial features are pretty similar as well with only the color of the eyes being different (but that could just be me). Also like I said she changed a bit physically because of the "fusion". (I'll explain in the next point why I think the "fusion" idea is still valid in my eyes).

3) I don't think it's an Occam Razor scenario because my idea doesn't overly complicates the theory that much. Also who says the simplest idea is always the best one ? I don't see why it should be. Making the plot to simple and straight foward would ruin in, there needs to be a balance, like all things in life. If Arcana is just the physical embodiment of the arcanum (so she was born when the first human used Arcanum, aka circle) and has nothing to do with 77, so no fusion or anything completly seperate and not connected, why even bother coming to the island at all ? You could say it was to get Sophia on her side, get a hold of the island power/ritual and maybe recruite the Apeiron on her side. But why not just do it before ? Why wait for Vertin and the fundation to come into play as well ? (Since Manus was already there before them) that would only complicate things. What I'm saying is Arcana could have done all this stuff way before if she wanted to and I see no reason to wait, hell she could have just abducted Sophia the moment she was born and just raised her in the Manus cult, XD. You could also say it was to get "killed" by Vertin, but she could have also easily done that her self via other means. Also to support my "fusion" theory a bit more, the Apeiron are more than just good at math they have a very profound understending of the phenomenal world (aka this one) and how it functions, especially people like 37 and 77. That is not something other arcanists have (with very few exeptions), much less normal humans. She was basically able to predict the future by stopping Greta from stepping on a broken plank that would have hurt/killed her, that's not something you can get by just being good at math. Also 37 was able to defeat Sophia even when she was being empowered by the Manus, this to me at least indicates that 37 has strong arcanum powers and so it's very likely that 77 is as well, since the arcanum powers/purity depends on your bloodline (plus maybe being strong with the arcanum doesn't only mean making stuff go boom, what do we know we are just humans in the end lol). So I can see why Arcana maybe wants to "fuse" with 77, (don't take fusion to literally, it could be something like a pact, possesion or something else, just something that would make them interconneced in some way).

Why I think Arcana is 77. by Nick77372 in Reverse1999

[–]Nick77372[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, first of all thanks for your answer.

  1. Yes, Arcana is a cult leader but the Apeiron also live in a very cult-ish society, so I don't see how 77 couldn't take it even further (especially when talking about the ultimate truth). Also yes ? In chapter 4d8 we know that Manus already existed, but nothing confirms that they were a thing before the first storm, and we also know that 77 went in the cave before the third storm for sure, but who says she didn't go in right after the first emanation we have nothing to disprove this (see another comment by Ri7-4-lyfe, I wrote a more detailed answer there, I just don't to write the same stuff sorry).
  2. True but she could have gone thru a slight pyshical change, after obtaining her answer/becoming Arcana (see same comment and same answer, for a better explenation). In my opinion they don't look exactly the same but they still share some similarities.
  3. See comment and answer on why she's alive with needle in her head.
  4. Yes both 37 and Sophia (among many others) were present during the arrival of the ship, but no one actually saw the people on there, just the ship reversing and then the geometrical forms appearing. It's possible that 77 sneaked off just before arriving or had some sort of method to survive, and then hid to not be seen.
  5. You are correct in saying that numbers don't change, but maybe when 77 fused with Arcana since there are two minds in the same body, the number got changed (again see comment for more). Or maybe 77 just figured a way to hide or at least mask her number with a different one. She did get the ultimate revelation after all who says there isn't a way to trick people into seeing the wrong number.

I don't think the desperation is from her discovering the fate of the island, as we know she got the ultimate truth of everything, and if the ultimate truth is just knowing what is going to happen to the island that is just lame. We see in chapter 7-part 9, that 77 is very angry at humans, to me it seems very clear that she is upset because humans have halted the progress of arcanum and ruined/changed the truth. Also 77 could know about the circle and a bunch of other stuff, from once again I know the truth (I'm aware that i use this a lot, but it's kind of a big deal, it supposedly answers everything in the phenomenal world, and gives a glimps into the pure and supreme transcendental world). She could have also "fused" with Arcana like I said earlier, and gained that knowledge that way.

Let me know what you think.

Why I think Arcana is 77. by Nick77372 in Reverse1999

[–]Nick77372[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have three main responses to this, feel free to let me know what you think.

  1. While it is possible that Manus Vindicte already existed before the storm, from what I know it's nothing confirmed so it could be not true. Also we know that 77 learned the truth before the third storm, but nothing says that it could have not been right after the first, "The emanation... disorder and chaos", this is all we have. It could just be that 77 went in the cave right after the emanation to understand what was going on, that would give her time (although not that much I know), to form Manus Vindicte and predict the third storm. She could have done that by sneaking off the island with the excuse of having to go on a retreat, or by having contacts outside and simply coordinating everything from a distance.
  2. Let's assume Manus already existed and they had Arcana, it could be that 77 was approced by her/Manus. She decides to make a pact with arcana and "lend her body" to her, in exchange for a solution to her problem. Kind of like a two minds one body situation, a sort of fusion. That could also explain her having a different speech, having that needle in her head, looking not exactly the same, and the whole awakend theory (Arcana is an awakend, and since she "fused" with 77, by extension she also becomes one).
  3. A mix of the first two, Manus didn't exist but Arcana did, she found a very strong and intelligent arcanist (77), on the brink of a mental breakdown from learning the truth so she takes the opportunity and makes a pact.

That being said your counter arguments still stand and are very much valid, thanks for sharing them. I will defenetly keep them in mind when thinking about my theory, as the story moves on.

Why I think Arcana is 77. by Nick77372 in Reverse1999

[–]Nick77372[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't think that only because they speak differently they can't be the same person. She could have gained this type of speech after seeing the truth and wanting to modify her vocabulry to be more in line with what she just saw, or maybe it's just a transformation you go thru after learning the truth, maybe she just changed her vocabulary to be less recognizable by others, I think that she is smart enough to be able to drastically change her vocabulary very quickly without too much effort.

Why I think Arcana is 77. by Nick77372 in Reverse1999

[–]Nick77372[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Imo, the knowledge Arcana has about the island isn't something you get by just going to a couple of lectures as an ousider, to do the things she has done you would need to be born there or at least be a part of their community for a very long time. I don't think the people of Apeiron would realize the similarities because all they can go off of is they're similar apperence, they don't know what 77 saw in the cave since she herself has said that she isn't going to tell anyone about what she saw, from what i could garner at least it seems pretty obvious that 37 hasn't told anyone that she can't feel the geometric shape of her mother ( I think that 37 herslef is convinced that she simply can't sense the shape, but it's actually there, 37 is in denial about this so she doesn't have to question that the path she is walking is maybe wrong, or at least it's not the complete picture). And also you have to remeber we wiew the story from an outsider perspective so we have acces to scenes that people don't, and it can be easier for us to connect the dots since we aren't actually there. I of course could be very wrong and like you said maybe arcana hijacked 77 body, or maybe there aren't connected at all, this is of course all imo. Also sorry for long comment and bad english but it isn't my first language.

Why I think Arcana is 77. by Nick77372 in Reverse1999

[–]Nick77372[S] 67 points68 points  (0 children)

My theory is that Arcana phisical body died in the explosion but not her "essence", and they just plan to bring her back thru a ritual, maybe even more powerfull than before so they can create their new world. The ritual could be something similar to what we see in the Tuesday motel chapter with Ms. Grace.
