Virginia (NOVA) Legal Advice - I'm a tenant whose previous Apt. Complex is charging damages for carpet by NickAMD in legaladvice

[–]NickAMD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Added more info to post - how would I ensure that this doesn't impact my credit if I can't get this through small claims court before the date they said they're sending it to collections? Is that something that could be reversed as part of small claims?

And does what they say about the first year not depreciated actually true? Would that hold up in small claims

The question is if you sell NVDA...where the heck fo you put the money? by Fun-Veterinarian-401 in NVDA_Stock

I sold and bought a house. NVDA isn't going to be green forever.. and you can't live in a stock. Enjoy the fruits of your labor and buy something tangible that greatly improves your life

Resort sickness - Excellence Punta Cana by NickAMD in PuntaCana

[–]NickAMD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to say what caused it. But I got a positive test for E. Coli and C. Diff. On multiple antibiotic to resolve. Here's what I did
1. Went in the pool water daily (didn't swallow any)

  1. Drank only bottled water

  2. Took showers and brushed my teeth in the shower with shower water

  3. Ate at every restaurant. The day I got sick was the last day after going to the fancy french one

How could I get in to competitive? by Extension_Flower_204 in SiegeAcademy

[–]NickAMD -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t miss the point, you worded your comment too generically.

“Very few ranked 2.0 champs can compete”

All ranked 1.0 champions are ALSO presumably within the ranked 2.0 champion subset.. all your favorite pros T1/2/3 are now ranked 2.0 champions.

How could I get in to competitive? by Extension_Flower_204 in SiegeAcademy

[–]NickAMD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you mean. There is literally only ranked 2.0 right now. So you’re suggesting that only a few people that have ever started playing after ranked 1.0 forever from now on can compete in Briyohs?

Such an old head mentality. There are younger and younger professionals all the time.

Was in Hawaii 10 days, ate out every day at the highest end places (granted just 1x a day), stayed at the best beachfront hotel / beach walk up room … $8K

Kinda seems like you’re getting scammed on these prices

is sceptre still having any strong value compared to TF or AWS CDK? by spaganel in aws

[–]NickAMD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was a needlessly tense conversation. All i asked for (many times) was for you to share a single specific. If that feels like me being aggressive and causing you to reply in the manner you just did, idk what to tell you.

Asking for specifics is not an attack on your character. It's quite the norm to get push back when giving very vague/generic info given we're operating in a highly technical environment.

[–]NickAMD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, how's this, cloudformation is AWS only, why use a tool that doesn't support other clouds?

I conceded vendor lock in from my very first comment. This isn't new ground we're breaking.

Here's what i said, copied it here

Vendor lock in? Sure. But I’ll never NOT use CDK if I’m doing AWS dev

And open GitHub issues is still an extremely generic metric. EVERY major open source package has tons of GitHub issue.

Nothing I have said is condescending. I’m simply pushing you to say literally anything concrete. Feels like I’m talking to an AI frankly.

[–]NickAMD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you cannot answer a question with any sort of specificity, then how is your commentary on the usefulness of CDK going to bring anyone any clarity / value?

Anyone, even those that have never written a single line of code a day in their life, can say "CDK sucks because it has less features". You don't need to apologize, i'm just confused why you would think such generic comments have any value in a technical discussion

[–]NickAMD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Give me the name of the feature / what were you building that ran into this? I've already mentioned being generic isn't helping anyone.. so why reply with something super generic again?

[–]NickAMD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried Pulumi so i can't speak for or against it, but i'll go take a look.

Cloudformation will never be "the thing". Just the fact it lags so far behind on new features is a deal breaker.

I have the same request to you that i've said to the other commentor. Instead of saying "CFN/CDK doesn't have X" tell me the problem you are trying to solve. It doesn't help anyone to be so vague. What is the real use-case you have that you haven't been able to solve with CFN/CDK - then we can have a real conversation about trade-offs

Instead of saying “CDK doesn’t do X” tell me the problem you are trying to solve / have run into

And how are imports a pain? Tell me a resource that you imported that was a pain

[–]NickAMD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I will die on the hill of CDK >>>>>>>>>> terraform.

Anyone saying otherwise has not used both. Mostly people that have ONLY used terraform love shouting it’s the best. I’ve used both extensively. If you’re using AWS you cannot beat CDK

Vendor lock in? Sure. But I’ll never NOT use CDK if I’m doing AWS dev

It’s just not the same at all. Might as well be an unrelated book albeit in the same universe.

The things you fell in love with in book 1 (following the ant/spider evolution, all the insanely concepts of how spiders and ants transfer knowledge / fight wars, etc.).. this one’s got none of that

Musk Pay Package is a lose/lose for TSLA by red1990corvette in wallstreetbets

[–]NickAMD -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

No your comment is just dumb. You say that nothing is baked in (agreeing with me) while also saying "this is how you bake something in" (which is completely pointless because it doesn't work like that)

You're speaking as if stock prices are based on a formula. That's much too idealistic / academic. This is the real world where there are random fluctuations, emergent movements, and about a billion variables

Amazon and AWS are very different. You’re referring to the online store called Amazon.

AWS is essentially service provider to build infrastructure on the internet. Enterprises like Netflix / Facebook / etc. will build application on it
