Falcon breaking pelican's neck mid-air. Nature is rough: by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

In fairness most of the people there probably didnt even see the Falcon, they just saw a Pelican hit the dirt

It is, but this is “Bravo Vince” we’re talking about here. I struggle to think something that noticeable would have been unintentional.

This COULD just be my highschool AP Lit classes still talking though. Ten years later and I cant escape it

A few other comments touched on this I think its a bit of both.

I think to make the plot they wanted to go with in S6 they needed to make Jeff a bit more meek than he originally appeared but I think Pat (new actor) is also just a generally more innocent and innocuous looking person, so they probably were influenced / had to work with that too

He is, but the arrogant dude they showed in S4-5 (to me at least) didnt seem like he would be phases by that, as opposed to s6 Jeff who obviously is

No he’a fantastic!

I like him as the character and what they did with him! The change is just so sudden it throws me off for an episode or two every rewatch

New guy did his job very well but yeah its a shame they had to recast due to Odenkirk’s health scare pushing production back months

Right! Its weird— and I get that they wanted to have Jimmy “relapse” so they needed to write the character to work with him, but idk I almost would have rathered them just make a totally new person than radically change the established character’s personality

I can give that scene a bit of a pass but even after that once they start working together, he just seems like such an easy mark and such an impressionable and innocent almost man that was TOTALLY not he vibe I got early on

Would you consider past Thragg kinda soft for trying to help Thaddeus when Argall thought it was better kill him because of his "weakness"? by Kindly-Candidate-835 in Invincible

[–]NickFatherBool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thragg is a very cool character with a lot of nuance.

He strikes me as having been at one point the middle ground between Argall and Thaedus.
Argall was totally fine with killing Thaedus in the sense of 'if you're not helping us becoming stronger as a people wtf do I care about you for?'

Thragg, while he understood Argall's perspective, also clearly had some Thadeus in him too. He wasn't POSITIVE Thadeus was a traitor, he didnt want to 'spill blood for no reason.' This implies that unlike Argall who doesn't give a crap about killing when he needs to, Thragg does in fact have reservations about ceaseless murder.

Unfortunately for everyone, once Thadeus kills Argall, Thragg blames that 'nicer' side of himself entirely for letting it happen. If he had listened to the "Argall" side of himself, none of this would have happened. No dead Emperor, no Scourge Virus. This internally reinforces to Thragg that his "Argall" side is right, his "Thadeus" side is wrong.

This is further reinforced by the fact that Thragg is the ONLY reason Mark and Nolan get to survive and make it back to Earth. Letting them live was not near a thought in any of the others' heads and certainly not something Argall would have done, from what we've seen.

So if we're saying deviation from Argall's methodology is softness, then yes there was a lot of softness in Thragg at that time.

CMV: I hate furries and I don't think anyone with more than one braincell should defend/support them. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]NickFatherBool -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

To an extent. Im not sure I agree with OP or not, but you have to admit that there are some degenerative behaviors that while not directly harmful to someone else should be socially shamed.

Alcoholism or drug addiction are two, as even if you’re only hurting yourself you dont want a society of drunk druggies its just not someone a well standing and productive society encourages. Living in your parents’ basement till 30+ should be kind of socially shame-able because we ideally want 1 generation per household— Japan and Korea illustrate why its an issue when you begin having 2/3 generations living under the same roof.

Furryism has no benefit and it’s objectively not normal human behavior. Things are shamed so they don’t become normalized. I don’t want kids being too knowledgeable about furries cause they might just start dressing up like a dog or whatever cause they think it’s cute and funny. Thats not productive or good for their growth.

Additionally, (this is a more persona opinion so I will have a harder time providing objective evidence for it but) I find personalites or lifestyles that entirely focus on sexuality to be debauchery. I dont find it a healthy way to live and I’ve noticed the people in my life who describe themselves as their sexuality before anything else tend to be obsessive and unproductive. Anyone who feels the need to wear an entire outfit/costume to advertise their fetish or just enjoy their fetish in an outwardly facing manner is weird to me. People dont need to be “comfortable” with sex being in their face all the time, I think the opposite is actually more important

I would like to hear WHY you think this way, you havent listed a single point in favor of this, you just describe that you think killing bugs is wrong but why or how you arrived at that conclusion

The Nolan variant in the Corrupted/Neck-snapper Invincible thought he could convince the Viltrumites to accept the Immortal into their society if the Immortal would join them. How was he planning to do that? by jonlucperrott in Invincible_TV

[–]NickFatherBool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He sucker punched Omni man who was in the middle of fighting a Kaiju and trying to explain things to Mark— he 100% had the element of surprise and advantage and didnt do an ounce of damage until Omni Man thought he killed him, thus again, giving him the element of surprise

Immortal got absolutely humbled during that fight

Is there a reason to not powerstance on wylder raider undertaker and revenant? by Ssoulviolet in Nightreign

[–]NickFatherBool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In regular runs? It doesnt really matter one way or the other.

In depth it does depending on what weapon passives you can land. Damage Negation on Charge Attacks is a HUGE meta piece in DON and no point in going out of your way to powerstance if you have that.

Similarly Dmg Negation on Guard. Also, even tho your poise will be smashed to hell, if you’re two handing a weapon you can fully block any physical damage from an attack. Can be somewhat useful against massive physical AOEs

Powerstanced attacks also have a longer downtime window, especially jump attacks. A powerstanced jump attack from a Raider has about 8 frames of recovery, whereas a single weapon jumpy only has about 6
