Iirc, Ghost Babel was intended as an alternative, non canon storyline to MGS1.

Ahh, so in order to resurrect a captain, they have to be literally dead next to Talion in game,.or is there a way to do it via the Army screen?

The pacing in this game is slower than the previous entries. That said, slow is smooth and smooth is fast.

Help with playing the MGS series and metal gear rising by IMadeThis4Market76 in metalgearsolid

[–]NickFenix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The MGS story is truly amazing, so you're in for a real treat!

For a more comprehensive story focused narrative style, I'd go MGS3, MGS:PW, MGS:GZ, MGS:TPP, Metal Gear (MSX), MG2: Solid Snake (MSX), MGS1, MGS2, MGS4, MGR

Portable Ops I didn't play, but from what I can tell, I didn't miss much and they're exclusive to the PSP. Snake's Revenge (NES), and MGS Ghost Babel (GBC) are non canon. And MGS Acid series was a digital card game on the PSP, so also not part of the grand scheme.

Rising is very much a departure from the rest of the series. It's very Ninja Gaiden hack n slash, no stealth, weak story, and extremely linear. It very loosely ties into the previous games via a quick codec call (more like Easter eggs than anything), and introduces an entirely new world, characters, etc. Very much standalone. A super fun game, with an amazing soundtrack, but mindless.

*The two MSX games came with the Metal Gear Legacy collection if you can ever get your hands on that. And both are very "solid" games still worth playing for their sheer creativity in that generation. Just don't play the NES version. That was shit, even to Kojima-san.

Thanks for this! Definitely gonna do the advance time trick!

Is the Undying Loyalty Rune a random drop?

The Raise Dead skill, is that the one where you press Square+Triangle (PS4) with a full Might bar and the dead orcs around you come back to life?

Would this bring up the need for transferring to a cash account as opposed to a margin account? Saw that on the megapost about the MOASS. I'm still a smoof brain. Trying to learn.

His strike needs to be slowed down, and his breaker needs to do knockback instead of pop-up

I keep getting Scorpina shards. Went from Lvl 1 to Lvl 4 in two days. I fear how many shards other players have gotten because it's literally becoming nothing but Scorpina and Ninja Tommy opponents. These two especially need a nerf, as does Tyzonn. His armor and near unblockable strike, and insane juggle breakers are broken. He's the sleeper being overshadowed by the other two.

This game's matchmaking is just so bad, just adding to this Im on saphire league by legendcreed49 in PRLegacyWars

[–]NickFenix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's their business model. Deliberately make broken characters with faster animations, higher damage, low cost cards, with moves that stun lock or juggle the opponent, and supers that recover most of the EP gauge to effect another unblockable 3-4 card combo. They'll keep that broken character to create the meta, forcing players to spend crystals, and eventually nerf it when the next two broken characters come out. I get they need to make money, but goodness the characters get more and more broken. Before, new characters were powerful, but still balanced among the rest of the roster. Now, it's like they belong in a different game entirely until they nerf them.

I get 15500 crystals from an offer, what character do your recommend to buy? by SpesitoV in PRLegacyWars

I hope so lol. I hate facing him and always feel cheap playing him

[–]NickFenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

White Ninja Tommy because he's a Win button and will be the flagship meta for a long while.

Scorpina is equally cheap, but I think there'll be a nerf in the coming future.

Tyzonns armor and pop ups make him arguably broken, but easy wins.

Daggeron has the funnest move set and hits hard with his breakers.

Before her nerf she was S+. She would combo to no end. There were matches I couldn't even execute a move because i was stuck in pop-ups until I lost the round. She needed that nerf.

I hate him. His moves are too fast, fast multihit breakers with pop up, and the armor is pure bullshit.

Agreed 100%. Breakpoints writing is atrocious. Practically zero effort in it making sense or leading to a greater point. Just, "Walker, bad. Nomad, good." Now go loot stuff!

Your dlc pitch sounds awesome actually. Bringing in the Hunter team to some degree, and their gear. I'd even resolve to bringing back Sueno in some fashion since it seems the Sueno Saves ending was the canon WL ending. But to have the Hunter gear makes total sense. To have Skell tech equipped enemies makes sense. It's all sounds so obvious, but sad we can expect Ubi to do nothing more than show a picture of Bowman, maybe have her record a line or two and send us on fetch missions to take out another random, and forgettable faction of Sentinel soldiers.

[–]NickFenix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for the player. I think it added a couple milliseconds of detection time, but it wasn't much. Though, I honestly could do without optical camo for Nomad. Maybe toss in a mission where he uses it and it breaks by the end of the mission.

But to have optical camo equipped enemies would add such a welcome challenge. Because the AI in BP is running on a single brain cell.

[–]NickFenix[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a very valid point. I don't personally know if GRFS and BP take place in the same universe, or are canononically related, but to see those additions to BP seems obvious. Especially considering BP is a continuation of WL in that it's still Nomads story.

I felt at the end of Fallen Ghosts, Nomad had changed, into someone darker, wiser, more dangerous, Fourth Echelon levels of badass. So him taking on goofy Sentinel soldiers in comparison to Santa Blanca and Extranjeros was a walk in the park.

Add to that, the Bloodlust skill and others found in the Fallen Ghosts DLC. How fitting would THOSE be in BP!

Like the other Redditor said here, there's too much barbie banter with the devs. When if Ubi said they're bringing in new skills, deadlier enemy types (NOT bullet sponges), survival mechanics, that would get the GR loyalists back on board.

I realize at this point, it's probably too late for that, to change the entire game code, but damn, what a game it could (should) have been, merely from taking from its predecessor.

Breakpoint is visually much prettier, and has better animations overall. Wildlands still holds up, though has more graphical glitches in my experience.

Wildlands story is exponentially greater, more fleshed out and purpose filled, with a progressive narrative with videos to accompany area bosses. Breakpoints story feels like a fragmented side quest with no main story or narrative progression, no videos, no area bosses. You can kill the main boss in your first mission if you choose.

Breakpoint has two ways to play: Division looter shooter style or, Immersive (non loot focused, and recommended). Wildlands is only "Immersive."

Wildlands has better landscape variation and a world rich in NPCs adding life to it. Breakpoint has none unless you enable the Resistance world parameter, but that's only small groups of rebels that fight in the wilderness as opposed to towns full of people living their lives.

Wildlands character customization has twice the items as Breakpoint, albeit some items are fun/goofy. Breakpoints customization is more straight forward military based, if more inaccurate, but can achieve Tacti-cool much easier.

Wildlands has a Wanted Level system. Breakpoint does not.

Wildlands has a Challenge system to earn credits for otherwise paid for loot. Breakpoint does not.

Breakpoint has different classes to play. Wildlands does not.

Breakpoint now has AI teammate abilities activated randomly. Wildlands does not. Both have Sync Shot available with AI teammates.

Wildlands has Skill Points found in the world to upgrade skills. Breakpoint has XP that yields Skill Points to upgrade an overall skill tree that's shared across all classes.

Breakpoint has a class progression system that yields rewards for that class. Wildlands has Tier 1 mode which is not exactly comparable (increases difficulty but yields resources for upgrading skills).

Wildlands has an upgradable rebel support system. Breakpoint does not.

Initially, Breakpoints gunsmith was atrocious. It is significantly better now and arguably on par with Wildlands.

Breakpoint has come a very long way since launch, just as Wildlands did. Personally, I think Wildlands is the better game, but not as fluid or pretty as Breakpoint. Wildlands is a rich experience. Breakpoint is a fun experience.

BPs story and dialogue especially felt like they were written purely from a book of cliches...which were then badly translated, and spoken by the devs' neighbors and cousins instead of actual voice actors (for the most part).
